The fashion industry mourns the loss of yet another prominent force in the industry. British fashion designer Alexander McQueen, 40, was found dead in his London apartment this morning, having reportedly committed suicide. His death comes days after his mother’s death and three years after the suicide of Isabella Blow, the famed style icon who discovered him.

The designer’s lower-end line, McQ, was cancelled after having been scheduled to premiere this afternoon at New York Fashion Week. McQueen’s last show was his Spring/Summer 2010 collection in Paris last Fall, which received prominent and noteworthy praise for its futuristic theme and artistry.

McQueen’s undeniable talent won the heart of many top women in the industry, including Anna Wintour, Kate Moss, and Lady Gaga, who showcased his Spring/Summer look 45 in her “Bad Romance” video.

He will truly be missed.
