Karl Lagerfeld’s Opinions on Paris Fashion Week
Karl Lagerfeld thinks only “impressive” shows should be staged at Paris Fashion Week.
The legendary designer - who showed his eponymous label’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection at the event as well as that of Chanel, where he is creative director - claims uninspiring shows have no place at the French capital’s event.
In an interview with singer Katy Perry for Elle.com, Karl said: “I think there are great people and collections here, like Lanvin. For me, it’s important that there are a lot of impressive collections at Paris because otherwise it’s not worth coming. There has to be exciting people and exciting shows here or else it all falls flat.”

Katy was keen to find out what inspired Karl, and whether there was any designer he would like to work with. “In my life I have never thought for a second about trading positions with another designer. I got used to myself. I can be impressed by what others do or have done but I never wanted to be somebody else,” Lagerfeld replied.
Katy was thrilled to be asked to interview Karl, and took to her Twitter page after the event to discuss it. “just interviewed karl lagerfeld… he was so lovely. I think I’ma be him for halloween. Collar, boots, gloves and all. Twerk (sic)!” she wrote.
