Unfortunately my original post yesterday was lost as our servers were being moved. I want to give thanks to Mike Slane of Elevation Mag where our daily work also appears. They were able to post yesterday’s work while our article was still up. It’s a day late, but perhaps the info might still be of value to you fantasy hounds.

The picture has been lost in the transfer…it was Steve Nash driving against Dirk Nowitzki, with the Fig Cap, “So you want to be MVP, do you?

Sorry for the mix-up. This week rather than attempt to drop a rhyme summarizing the box scores, there was such a fantasy hoops bonanza on Wednesday night, that I listed 25 note-worthy stat-lines.

.Dwyane Wade down Last week’s Dime Day summarized each NBA team’s playoff schedule as fantasy owners prepare for the fantasy post-season. This week, the head-to-head format itself is placed under the microscope. Roto lovers always point to the “luck factor” in h2h leagues as a negative. For example, perhaps your masterpiece of a roster was led by Dwyane Wade, as awesome a player as there is playing in the league today. Well, you are in tough now, aren’t you? A second half injury can chop down your first half success so fast. Yet nothing beats the week to week match-ups and the competition that thrives with this action.

John Salmons deserves a roster spot in all leaguesWire to Wire aims to be your waiver wire resource for all of your fantasy basketball needs. It will dive into playing time trends, injury replacements, and even an occasional category specialist—all of which can be found on a typical waiver wire within your fantasy league at any given time.

A lot of common names are mentioned this week. Some have received elevated playing time due to injuries, while one specific baller will get more time simply because he’s on the same team as Ron Artest. Add John Salmons to the list of players who got a late- season boost thanks to playing with Artest at any point in their careers. We may be adding this to future theories for drafting purposes. Until then, we’ll just focus on players that you can add this week to get you to the playoffs.

Description Time to look ahead to the fantasy playoffs! Although there is definitely a luck factor in head-to-head play, these leagues are a lot of fun. This primer assumes your weekly match-up starts on the Monday of the week, and ends on the Sunday. In Yahoo! leagues, the h2h playoffs start during Week 22, March 26-April 1. These leagues also tend to extend championship week to include the few days at the end of the season. So below, you will see a “Week 24+” designation, which includes games to be played between April 9th and April 18th.

Use this primer to evaluate your current roster and each player’s fantasy playoff schedule. Manipulating the number of games played in each playoff week could be the edge you need to win your fantasy league. Is Lebron the guy to bring you the bling-bling? Check it out below to find out!

Stat’s All Folks will be a week-to-week stock market look at the standard cumulative categories – points, assists, rebounds, three-pointers made, steals, and blocks.
StarburyI’ll be calling out the “bulls” and “bears” in each category, in order to help you assess your portfolio of players on your fantasy basketball team(s) and whether you should sell, hold, and/or diversify your assets.

Note that you won’t always see the superstar player written about in this column, otherwise it would be LeBron James or Steve Nash every week.  So, check out who’s bullish and who’s bearish coming into the week.

Statistics are from February 23rd – March 1st.

POINTS

BULLISH

Stephon Marbury, PG, New York Knicks
Last Week’s Numbers of Note: 4 G; 23.0 PPG; 46.8 FG%; 78.6 FT%

Marbury has been playing like the Starbury of old, the self-proclaimed “best point guard” in the NBA.  It’s funny how that was statement was associated with Steve Nash who then went on to back-to-back MVP awards.  However, this is not to bash Steph, but to praise him.  In his last four games he’s scored at least 22 points and with backcourt mate Jamal Crawford, the only consistent Knicks guard this season, possibly out for the season, you can expect Marbury’s value to keep rising, especially with the Knicks having a chance at the playoffs thanks to playing in the Leastern Conference.

Gerald GreenWire to Wire aims to be your waiver wire resource for all of your fantasy basketball needs. It will dive into playing time trends, injury replacements, and even an occasional category specialist—all of which can be found on a typical waiver wire within your fantasy league at any given time.

While the center position has given plenty of owners fits over the last few months, the recent demise of many guards have left owners in a bind.  From Baron Davis and Dwyane Wade to the recent additions of Shaun Livingston and Sam Cassell, it just hasn’t been pretty for point guards as of late.  While I definitely recommend checking out my colleague Ron Chow’s Injury Lowdown, the waiver wire help will be tackled below.  On to this week’s recommendations…
