Transactions Reactions

Posted by Scott Sargent Categories: Free Agency, H2H, News, Props, Roto, Rumors,

James Posey Man, you take a week off for some much-needed vacation time and you come home to a world of basketball craziness.  Unsigned free agents looking overseas?  Huge names continuing to be on the move?

And with our mock draft coming up, all of these transactions, or would-be transactions, will impact you on draft day.  Sure, your football drafts are right around the corner, but why not take a break and study the hoops?

The Move: James Posey to New Orleans

Fantasy Impact:

There was a good chance that no matter where Posey landed, he would just be another role player off of the bench.  His days of top roto production are long in the rear view, but he goes to another talented team with a solid point guard and All-Star big man.  Posey will split time with the bevy of swingmen in the En-Oh, but will continue to be a source of three-balls.  He won’t play much more than 20 minutes an evening - barring an injury to Peja, which isn’t very far-fetched - but he could still be worth the late-round addition.  At worst, add him during four-game weeks once a rotation is ironed out.

The Move: Darius Miles’ pending return

Fantasy Impact:
Wow.  I never thought I would see the day.  But Miles truly believes that he could be a force in this league, even if he is a decade overdue.  Portland fans cannot be thrilled, and the team has obviously moved on in a much, much better direction.  Odds are that many fantasy hosting sites will not even have Miles in the database, but we’ll see.  I guess if he makes a final roster, they’ll have to add him?  Either way, I wouldn’t be the guy to select Miles unless it is in a super deep league, and it is for comedic purposes.

The Move: Josh Childress bailing on Atlanta for Greece?

Fantasy Impact:
I’ll believe it when I see it.  But while dynasty owners would feel a huge bruise, this would impact the remaining Hawks.  We’ll have to see who exactly those remaining Hawks will be, as it seems that no one is happy there.  Thankfully, Joe Johnson is next to untradable at this point, so he’ll see a decent bump in value.  To be determined…

The Move: Marcus Camby traded to the Clippers

Fantasy Impact:
While the Denver front office is apparently questioning most fans’ ability to judge trades, this move fills a much-needed hole for the Clippers front court.  This won’t mean good things for Chris Kaman’s sudden revival on the fantasy front, and it will also mean a likely regression on Camby’s minutes as well.  Nene and Kenyon Martin see a sudden boost, but these two are just as iffy on the injury front as Camby himself.

The Move: Yao Ming’s healthy...for now

Fantasy Impact:
I’m officially done with this guy.  If you want to use a late first, early second-rounder on him then have at it.  He’s hurt me too many times.  Sure, I could have just sold high or whatever, but I need games.  Not Olympic prep time.

Did I miss anything?  Leave it in the comments!  Oh, and for those that read the entire post… Laker Girls!  Enjoy.
