Dropping Dimes on the Daily: March 5th, 2007
Dropping Dimes On The Daily is all about the team looking at the previous night’s performances and mentioning those that did pretty goodly and those that did pretty badly. Goodly is a word, right? Anyway, this will be a quick look around the league, so don’t expect a ton of text, just some daily fantasy basketball goodness!!! Please note that this is the fantasy basketball section of ElevationMag.com’s Daily Top Picks. Check it out and see your daily rumors, quotes, headlines, and facts! But read the fantasy section HERE!
The Fig Cap: Whoa, man. Watch where you’re swinging that ugly stick!
A lot of scoring and a few triple-doubles. Not a bad night in the NBA…
Big news of the night was Ben Gordon and Michael Redd combining for 100 points as the Bulls beat the Bucks. Gordon put up 48 points and five assists while draining five long balls. Redd trumped him with 52 points off of eight from behind the arc. Andrew Bogut also had a nice night with 13 points, 11 boards and six dimes, but it was the Bulls that brought home the win.
Kevin Garnett led the way for the Minnesota Timberwolves with his huge night. KG racked up 33 points, 13 boards, 10 assists, three blocks, 2 steals and a three-pointer. Man, this guy needs a real team to play with. Other ‘Wolve players to go big were Ricky Davis (35 points, nine assists, and four rebounds) as well as Troy Hudson…yes, Troy Hudson. T-Hud put up 26 points and eight assists with three from long range. I officially give up on the Timberwolves backcourt.
The backcourt for the Boston Celtics also had a decent showing. Delonte West put up 31 second-half points with his 10 assists. West was also 12/14 from the line, and would’ve been in contention for the line of the night if not for KG, Gordon and Redd. Paul Pierce had a decent night of 27 points, nine boards and five assists, but I could’ve done without the six turnovers.
Welcome back, Jason Richardson. J Rich put up 28 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists and four threes. The Warriors lost, however in the closing seconds with Gilbert Arenas sinking three free throws and the Wizards winning by one. Arenas also had a solid night of 32 points, five boards and six assists to go with his late-game heroics.
In what ended up being a lot lower scoring than I anticipated, the Suns beat the Lakers on national television. Steve Nash led the way with his 23 points and 10 dimes. Amare Stoudemire’s 17 point/11 board night definitely helped, along with Shawn Marion’s 13 points, 12 boards and two blocks.
With a few injuries in LA, Kobe Bryant surprised no one with his 31 points, four boards and six assists. Brian Cook, however, surprised a lot of people with his 22 points, 14 boards and four bombs.
Jason Kidd recorded yet another triple-double. Yawn. (I kid…his 11 points, 14 boards and 14 assists is simply just the norm these days) Boki Nachbar’s 8 of 9 from the line en route to his 21 point day was nice as well.
The Utah Jazz big men put up their normal lines. Mehmet Okur led the way with 28 points and nine boards. Carlos Boozer’s 17 and 12 was just another day in the office.
Tyson Chandler is just sick. Chicago couldn’t use this guy? 20 points, 19 boards and two blocks while going 10-13 from the floor is definitely a nice afternoon. Chris Paul’s officially back with his 14 points, 13 assists and three steals.
The Seattle Supersonics wrap up today’s coverage. Ray Allen went from possibly done for the season to putting up 25 points on five long balls. You have to love the media. Rashard Lewis had a solid evening with 28 points and eight boards to go with this three bombs, and Earl Watson filled in nicely for Luke Ridnour with 10 points, 10 assists and three steals.
Catch you on the rebound…
