Dropping Dimes on the Daily: February 27, 2007

Dropping Dimes On The Daily is all about the team looking at the previous night’s performances and mentioning those that did pretty goodly and those that did pretty badly. Goodly is a word, right? Anyway, this will be a quick look around the league, so don’t expect a ton of text, just some daily fantasy basketball goodness!!! Please note that this is the fantasy basketball section of ElevationMag.com’s Daily Top Picks. Check it out and see your daily rumors, quotes, headlines, and facts! But read the fantasy section HERE!
The Fig Cap: “Get out of my way, rook, or I’ll bite your arm off Mike Tyson style.”
Without a shadow of a doubt, Tim Duncan had the best line of the night (sans treys) - 24 points on 11-for-15 shooting from the floor, 16 boards, four dimes, four “get that shiznit out of here"s, and two rock rips to help the Spurs beat the Toronto Raptors 107-91. Just call him “Extinction.”
Man, Kobe Bryant is simply a beast that loves to take it to the rack. Here’s the proof: 21-for-24 from the charity stripe. DAYUM! That’s a lot of attempts, but of course the most impressive part is that KB24 hit 87.5% of the shots. So, he had a less-than-likable percentage from the field, hitting seven shots of 21 jacks. Still, is there anyone else you’d rather have to fill in that points category? Not I, sir, not I.
But Kobe wasn’t the only Los Angaleez player heading to the foul line on the regular in his game as Corey Maggette (remember him?) stepped up to the line 20 times and making 19 of them. He’s been starting lately and that’s a good thing for Maggette owners. He finished with 25 points. Maggette may be available in shallow leagues and should be picked up if you need points, rebounds, and up the free-throw percentage. In other leagues, you may be able pick him off for a little cheaper than what his value will be moving forward. Especially with Shaun Livingston being out with a dislocated knee after last night’s game. Have you seen this? Cringe.
Another player who could have value is Bonzi Wells who started in place of Tracy McGrady. With a 27 point, nine rebound night, maybe Wells will get to start moving forward? Who knows for sure. But, if you have a spot to play with, pre-emptive strike it and pick up Wells who has a knack for scoring and boarding.
Speaking of picking up, I hope you picked up Darko Milicic a couple of weeks ago because he’s for real. The dude is finally free and putting shots back in players’ faces, blocking five last night to lead the League. He also added 14 points and 16 boards. If you didn’t pick him up, maybe nobody else your league did either. If you need blocks and a very competent player to put in your C spot… DARKO! DARKO! DARKO!
Here are the players that led the League last night and finished with nine dimes - Lamar Odom... check. Tony Parker... check. Allen Iverson... check. Jerry Stackhouse... WHAT?!?!?!?! Yeah, Stack handed out 90 cents to his fellow Mavs and finished with 19 points. He’s a solid deep league player, but a borderline standard league player.
Luol Deng is the devil’s disciple. He finished with six rebounds, six assists, and six steals. SIGN OF THE BEAST! SIGN OF THE BEAST! And while he didn’t finish with 666 points, he did finish with 23. Yeah, 2x3 = 6. Okay, I’m being dumb, something the Bulls weren’t when they refused to trade Deng and Ben Gordon for Pau Gasol. Gordon finished with 32 points… wait… 3x2 = 6… AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!
ALERT! ALERT! We have a Zaza Pachulia sighting. Once again, we have seen Zaza. He finished with 24 and nine rebounds.
Catch you on the rebound!
