Dropping Dimes on the Daily: February 16, 2007
Dropping Dimes On The Daily is all about the team looking at the previous night’s performances and mentioning those that did pretty goodly and those that did pretty badly. Goodly is a word, right? Anyway, this will be a quick look around the league, so don’t expect a ton of text, just some daily fantasy basketball goodness!!! Please note that this is the fantasy basketball section of ElevationMag.com’s Daily Top Picks. Check it out and see your daily rumors, quotes, headlines, and facts! But read the fantasy section HERE!
The Fig Cap: You put your left leg down, your right leg up, tilt your head back and finish the cup!
Not too much of a sample size last night, but the two games that were played produced a ton of fantasy-worthy statistics.
In the Dallas/Houston battle, the big line of the night came from none other than Dirk Nowitzki. While Josh Howard’s 15 point, 11 rebound night definitely contributed, it was the Diggler who put up 26 points, eight boards, two long-balls, and two blocks. Tracy McGrady looked good on the outside with 27 points, 10 rebounds and three threes, but his 9-21 from the floor and 6-11 from the line could’ve been better.
The battle between Kobe Bryant’s Lakers and LeBron James’ Cavaliers was won by LBJ and crew…on the road. A ton of solid nights were produced in this game, as it was simply disgusting.
Anderson Varejao filled in nicely for Zydrunas Ilgauskas (personal reasons) to the tune of 15 points, 11 boards, two steals and a block. Eric Snow also showed up last night (he’s apparently a DroppingDimes.com reader). Snow put up his best line of the year, going for 13 points, eight boards, five assists, a steal and a block. The amazing part? Snow went an astounding 9-10 from the free throw line!
The Lakers countered with a 20 point, eight boards and three assist night from Lamar Odom, as well as some point guard production of their own. Sasha Vujacic came through with 14 points, four boards, three steals, and three from long range.
Kobe Bryant put up his typical line of 34 points, six boards, five dimes and two steals. His 14-15 from the line was nice, but was easily countered by a 9-22 from the floor.
The line of the night? Do you have to ask?
LeBron James: 38 points, four rebounds, three assists, three steals, 10-16 from the floor, 18-22 from the line, and the win. Owners have to be excited for this line going into the All-Star break, as it shows that his toe may not be as bad as rumored, as well as solid momentum for the second half.
Catch you on the rebound…
