Dropping Dimes on the Daily: February 13, 2007

Reggie EvansDropping Dimes On The Daily is all about the team looking at the previous night’s performances and mentioning those that did pretty goodly and those that did pretty badly.  Goodly is a word, right?  Anyway, this will be a quick look around the league, so don’t expect a ton of text, just some daily fantasy basketball goodness!!!  Please note that this is the fantasy basketball section of ElevationMag.com’s Daily Top Picks. Check it out and see your daily rumors, quotes, headlines, and facts!  But read the fantasy section HERE!

The Fig Cap: “I am special and Dropping Dimes loves me… now grab nuts.”

Only a trio of games on the schedule last night, and to parallel that, a trio of Denver Nuggets had fun in a 123-111 win over the Golden State Warriors.  I’ll talk about the boxers first - Carmelo Anthony and J.R. Smith, both of whom enjoyed another night off for Allen Iverson as bot scored 28 points.  It’s no surprise getting the points from Melo, but since Iverson came to Denver, Smith has lost a bit of shine when he, the Answer, and the back pedaler have been on the hardwood.  But, with A.I. out Smith got his score on, including six makes from downtown.  Bombs away…

So, who was the third Nugg that dropped points?  None other than Nene Hilario, the Brazilian Balloon.  Okay, okay, he’s lost weight, which is probably why he’s playing so much better.  The player formerly only known by one name, Nene, scored 24 points on 10-for-14 shooting from the floor.  Marcus Camby is back, which could impact Nene’s burn and production on the frontline.  But, until then, Hilario is an excellent option, especially at the C position.

Speaking of Camby, in his first game back from injury (yeah, again), he scored eight points, grabbed seven boards and dropped seven dimes (including a sa-weet behind-the-back pass Pistol Pete Maravich stylo for a dunk), three rock rips and ONLY one block in 28 minutes of work.  Not too shabby.

Can anyone tell me that Al Harrington is not loving playing for the Warriors?  Harrington scored 24 points to lead the Warriors in points, but right behind him was Kelenna Azubuike, who not only scored 23 points, but also started the game.  But, before you start going bananas picking him up off of waivers, understand that he is getting the start because of injuries to Jason Richardson, Mickael Pietrus, and Baron Davis.

And that collective moan you just heard were all of the Boom Dizzle owners out there.  Yup, if you didn’t know, Davis is out indefinitely after needing left knee surgery.  Surprise, surprise, the Baron is out again.  It might make you feel a little bit better if you’re a Davis owner to pick up Sarunas Jasikevicius (because we all know that Monta Ellis won’t be around).  SarJas played 17 minutes last night, producing six points and dropping five dimes.  Of course when I say a “little better,” I’m talking Verne Troyer better.

Who says you can’t go home again?  Chris Webber is loving playing in Detroit Rock City and last night had a nice line of 19 points, 9 rebounds, and dos (that’s “two”) steals in 29 minutes of play.  He MIGHT be available in shallow leagues and certainly deserves some consideration.  Especially with that C eligibility.

We here at Dropping Dimes LOVE Steve Blake because that’s all he does… drop dimes.  Last night he went off for lucky number 13.  To take a line from Sarge yesterday in his Fig Cap - “Steve, we just can’t quit you.”

Only one double-digit rebounder?!?!?!  Someone please call the company that makes Windex (yes, I’m too lazy to Google it and I’m at work!).  Anyway, Reggie Evans, with 11 boards you are our winner!  Of what?  How about recognition in today’s DDOTD!  Sorry, buddy, that’s all we got.  I’ll even put you as the picture at the top of this article!

OH SNAP, my boy, Shaun Livingston, Peoria’s Finest got the start last night (plantar fasciitis is a biznitch, ain’t it Sam Cassell?).  And even though he only scored four points and dished out a paltry three assists, Livingston did have five rock rips.  Hey, when you have a man-crush on a player, you’ll take and highlight anything.

Andrei Kirilenko is showing that versatility we all fell in love with.  Last night he finished with 11 points, four in each of boards, dimes, and assists to go along with two steals.  MAYBE AK-47 will work his value back up?  Let’s pray to the fantasy basketball gods.

Catch you on the rebound!
