Dropping Dimes On The Daily: February 5th, 2007
Dropping Dimes On The Daily is all about the team looking at the previous night’s performances and mentioning those that did pretty goodly and those that did pretty badly. Goodly is a word, right? Anyway, this will be a quick look around the league, so don’t expect a ton of text, just some daily fantasy basketball goodness!!! Please note that this is the fantasy basketball section of ElevationMag.com’s Daily Top Picks. Check it out and see your daily rumors, quotes, headlines, and facts! But read the fantasy section HERE!
The Fig Cap: I’ll Rochambeau you for it!
Only a few games of the professional basketball variety yesterday, but that doesn’t mean any lack in fantasy production.
The Toronto Raptors outscored the other five teams that played on Sunday by putting up a nice 122 big ones, all in regulation time. Chris Bosh led the way with 27 points, seven boards and four assists on 50% from the field and 88% from the line. Well done, sir. Jose Calderon continues to pour in the assists, chalking up 12 dimes to go with his 10 points. Four other Raptors scored in double-figures, including Morris Peterson, TJ Ford, Anthony Parker, and Jorge Garbajosa. Rookie Andrea Bargnani had a quiet night, with eight points and four boards. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that Toronto shot a crazy 92% from the line as a team. All-around great night for the T-Dot…
Tim Thomas and Cat Mobley rained as many threes as they could, combining for nine bombs. Cat’s work contributed to his night of 24 points, despite not contributing anywhere else. That work was left to Elton Brand, who put up a nice line 21 points, 10 boards, six assists, and two blocks.
Overtime in New Jersey paved the way for some huge fantasy lines between the Nets and the Atlanta Hawks. All-Star snub Joe Johnson put up a huge 37 points to go with his eight assists, five boards, four three-pointers, and a steal. If he played for any other team in the East, he’d be going to Vegas. Huge disappointment. Josh Smith’s 14 points, 10 boards two steals and a block were also nice. He could’ve done without the 5-17 from the floor though…
I’m starting to become a big Vince Carter fan. I may be late to the party, but the guys just out of control good: 27 points, eight assists, seven boards, two blocks, two threes and a steal all in a days work. Do I dare mention that this was done at 56% from the floor and 83% from the line?
Jason Kidd’s 13 points and 11 assists are just ho-hum. What, no triple-double?? C’mon Kidd!
The Pistons beat up on the Cavs pretty good, in front of a national audience yet again. Rasheed Wallace had a nice game putting up 15 points and 10 boards, while blocking a shot and draining a three. Chauncey Billups tore up any player that the Cavaliers threw at him, finishing with 18 points, 10 dimes, two steals and a three for good measure.
Not that it means anything at this point, but NBA.com is listing Chris Webber as the starting center. I didn’t see much of the game, but if this continues, it could lead to an increase in C-Webb’s value.
Zydrunas Ilgauskas went for 12 points and 11 boards, but aside from him, LeBron James was [yet again] the only Cavalier worth mentioning, going for 21 points, six assists and five boards.
I guess here is where I say: Catch you on the rebound! Take care, guys…
