Drafting in the four spot has so far yielded a top flight center Amare Stoudemire and Rashard Lewis, a SF/PF-eligible player who can fill it up from outside while strengthening the percentages. Options in the third round are to either add a point guard, or find another PF-eligible player who can score, rebound, and hit the trey. Teamed with ‘Shard, this player helps make this fantasy team’s forward spots a tough check when it comes to moneyballs.

Round 3, Pick 4: Antawn Jamison, SF/PF, Washington Wizards

Here are Jamison’s best and worst statistical averages from the last three seasons, which should give you a snapshot of his consistency as well as where his current game is at.

Best: 82 GP, 45.0 FG%, 76.0 FT%, 21.4 ppg, 10.2 rpg, 1.9 apg, 2.0 3pg, 1.3 spg, 0.5 bpg, 1.4 topg

Worst: 70 GP, 43.6 FG%, 73.1 FT%, 19.8 ppg, 8.0 rpg, 1.5 apg, 1.5 3pg, 1.1 spg, 0.2 bpg, 1.7 topg

Here’s the quick and dirty on what to know about Antawn heading into this year.

1. He’s a no-nonsense, durable player with an established track record. Count on 20 and 10 easily while Gilbert Arenas is out, and close to that even if Arenas comes back at full strength.

2. He was #5 last year based on current Yahoo! positions at the PF spot in three-pointers, trailing only Rashard Lewis (oh yeah, already on the team!), Al Harrington, Rudy Gay and Andres Nocioni. Dirk Nowitzki is the prototypical power forward with an outside shot, but Antawn hit 41 more three-pointers than Dirk last year.

3. One man’s pain is another man’s pleasure. Arenas has already talked about January for a return. Jamison and Caron Butler will wreck shop until then.

4. You can hide his lack of blocks by playing him at the small forward position. There, he still stacks up well with his treys, his rebounds become a more valuable asset and his FG% does not hurt as much.

In picking Jamison here, a slew of point guards (Chauncey Billups, Jose Calderon, Joe Johnson, Jason Kidd) were passed on. Billups and Calderon especially would have been good fits on this team, as they shoot well from the line and hit the three. We will see if Calderon can shoot better than 50% from the floor again as a starter. Quite a few quality shooting guards are still available too, like Paul Pierce, Kevin Martin and Brandon Roy. Plus there are some interesting options at forward, namely Rudy Gay and Ron Artest. It looks like the third round is shaping up to be very strong. Andrew Bynum has a lot of buzz surrounding him this year, but with Amare already on the team, there is no need in taking the chance on him to 1) be fully recovered and 2) better his value from last year before he got injured.

Come the fourth round, it is all but certain that a point guard needs to be taken. Stay tuned.
