Dropping Dimes On The Daily is all about the team looking at the previous night’s performances and mentioning those that did pretty goodly and those that did pretty badly. Goodly is a word, right? Anyway, this will be a quick look around the league, so don’t expect a ton of text, just some daily fantasy basketball goodness!!! Please note that this is the fantasy basketball section of ElevationMag.com’s Daily Top Picks. Check it out and see your daily rumors, quotes, headlines, and facts! But read the fantasy section HERE!
The Fig Cap: Eat some Spalding, Rook!
Happy Wednesday. We had seven match-ups on Tuesday night within the association. Shall we take a stroll down fantasy basketball lane?
The Wizards thumped my beloved Raptors. Chris Bosh had an off night on the glass; he finished the night with 25 points, one rebound and three blocks. Juan Dixon got the start in place of Anthony Parker and managed 14 points, four rebounds and four assists. Parker, meanwhile, is day-to-day with a wonky right ankle. T.J. Ford was okay with a line of 14 points, three rebounds, six assists and three steals. Welcome back Andrea Bargnani, who flew back to Italy to visit an ill family member. Bargnani may still have been a little jet lag and finished with nine points, two rebounds and two treys.
The Big Three for the Wizards were clicking last night. Gilbert Arenas was perfect from beyond the arc going 5-5 and finishing with 25 points, six assists and two steals. Antawn Jamison popped in 25 points, four rebounds and two assists. Caron Butler doubled up with 12 points, 12 boards and two assists. Antonio Daniels had a good game as the sixth man and put up a line of 18 points, two rebounds, six assists and three steals.
Ray Allen is one tough hombre. Ray Allen has a large bone spur in his left ankle, which will require surgery but will tough it out for as long as he can. One would think that this injury may hinder Allen’s productivity, nope, check out his line of 29 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, two steals and three treys. Rashard Lewis was impressive as well with 24 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and four splashes from beyond the arc. Earl Watson got the start with Luke Ridnour nursing a herniated disk in his neck. Luke is considered day-to-day. Watson was rocking with 23 points, nine assists and was money from 3-point land going 6-8. Don’t get to excited with Watson because once Luke comes back it will be a time share at the point again.
Stephon Marbury is starting to regain the luster of his self-proclaimed moniker of Starbury. Starbury was the star for the Knicks last night heating up with 40 points, three assists and was 8-11 from 3-point land. Knicks fans may be upset that Marbury missed a key free throw at the end of the game that would have tied the game however fantasy owners are rejoicing with Marbury’s line. Eddy Curry finished with 15 points, eight rebounds and the typical five turnovers. Quentin Richardson was able to get over his back woes and ended the night with 12 points, nine rebounds and five assists.
Fantasy Owners love overtime and are ecstatic with double overtime games because more time means more stats! The Lakers and Timberwolves needed double overtime to decide their match up. Kobe Bryant had a monster game filling up the box scores like a bingo card; check his line of 40 points, 13 rebounds, eight assists, two steals, three blocks and three treys. Smush Parker had a good game with 24 points, four rebounds, three assists and four steals. Brian Cook is starting in place of Lamar Odom who is nursing torn left labrum, which is located in the shoulder. Cook served up 14 points, eight rebounds, two steals and four blocks.
Ricky Davis was following Stella’s lead and found his groove last night. If only Davis can produce stud like numbers of 33 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists and four steals on a more consistent basis, he would be an elite fantasy guard. Kevin Garnett was MONEY. Last night line of 26 points, 17 rebounds, four assists and two blocks has fantasy owners smiling. Mark Blount was doing his Mehmet Okur imitation and was 3-6 from three-point land. Blount ended up with 18 points, six rebounds, two steals and a block. Do not adjust your box score, yes that is Marko Jaric getting the start in place of Trenton Hassell who was out with bum ankle. Jaric had 12 points, three rebounds, five assists, two steals and three blocks. Leave Jaric on the waiver wire because Hassell will be back in the starting line up when he is healthy.
Vince Carter was the leading scorer for the Nets last night. Carter finished with 32 points, six rebounds and eight assists. Jason Kidd always a triple double threat put up 11 points, eight rebounds and eight assists. Mikki Moore had 20 points and three blocks but rebounded like Minny Mouse with only one board.
Jason Terry was Jack Bauer like finishing the night with 24 points, three rebounds and three assists. Dirk Nowitzki was riding shotgun in the scoring department last night had a line of 22 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and two blocks. Josh Howard had an off night like Morris O’Brian (a la 24), finished with 10 points and three rebounds. Erik Dampier raised an eyebrow by doubling up with 12 points, 14 rebounds and two blocks.
Chris Paul was dishing out dimes like a vending machine. Paul’s shot was off, ending up with 13 points and four rebounds but a tasty 14 dimes made the night that much better. Tyson Chandler was around the rim all night finishing with 14 points, 18 rebounds and four blocks. David West had a quiet night with four points and seven rebounds.
Coach Karl has recently chastised Carmelo Anthony for not playing team ball answered the bell last night with 21 points, seven rebounds and “ahem” six assists. Allen Iverson had 25 points, three rebounds and five assists. Nene Hilario doubled up with 15 points, 14 rebounds and three assists, and Marcus Camby had a vintage AK-47’esque line last night with eight points, 11 rebounds, six assists, four steals and three blocks.
Last night, The Spurs had a different Big Three step up. Tony Parker made a surprise start after dealing with strain left hip but sat out the second half of the game. Parker ended up with four points and three assists. Michael Finley stepped up and potted 20 points, three rebounds and five assists. Tim Duncan quietly got the job done with 24 points, eight rebounds, two assists and two blocks. Manu Ginobili continues to get the job done coming off the bench finished with 23 points, four rebounds, three assists and two threes.
Zach Randolph had a tough night at the office going against Duncan. Z-Bo still managed to double up with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Brandon Roy just fills the stat sheet; check out the rookie’s line of 19 points, five rebounds, nine assists and two steals. In Physics, we learn that for every action there is an equal reaction, this holds true in fantasy basketball. Roy’s success is coming on the expense of Jarrett Jack’s numbers, Jack finished with six points, two rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Jermaine O’Neal continues to produce for the Pacers and owners, O’Neal in workman like fashion pounded out 22 points and 12 rebounds. Mike Dunleavy was feeling it last night and lead the Pacers in scoring with 24 points, three rebounds and two assists. Will the real Troy Murphy please stand up? Murphy continues to baffle owners with a good night of 19 points, six rebounds and three assists. Murphy’s production has been inconsistent and makes it tough for fantasy owners to start him.
As you all well know by now, Ron Artest has been excused from the team with his arrest for domestic abuse. I think Artest is gone for the rest of the season and accordingly picked up John Salmons in all my leagues. If John Salmons is available on the waiver wire, run and pick him up. In his first start after the Artest hoopla, Salmons finished with seven points, four rebounds and eight assists. Expect Salmons’ scoring to improve. The biggest benefactor with Artest’s absence could be Kevin Martin. The new K-Mart finished with 27 points, seven rebounds and two threes. Mike Bibby had a good night with 22 points, three rebounds, two assists and two treys. Expect Bibby’s scoring to remain on the positive side of twenty with Artest gone. I hope Artest gets his life in order.
Catch you on the rebound..
