Injury Lowdown: Fantasy Sleeper Down - Marvin Williams Out 6-8 Weeks
Posted by Ron Chow Categories: Injuries, Site Features, Sleepers, Southeast Division, Atlanta Hawks,
Marvin Williams in out 6-8 weeks with a broken bone in his left hand. Williams broke his hand during practice on October 26 as he swiped for the ball. Ironically, teammate Speedy Claxton is returning back from breaking the same bone to his left hand. Calcium supplements for all Hawks players, please!
Fantasy Lowdown:
This is a tough break (no pun intended) for Marvin Williams. He was on many fantasy sleepers lists and looked ready to bust out in the Hawks starting lineup. It may still happen but it will have to wait until the end of December. In the meantime, the biggest fantasy benefactor with Marvin out is the man with the fro, Josh Childress. Childress with his funky shooting motion can step in as the small forward with Josh Smith moving over to play the four. The “Landlord,” Shelden Williams, will get some burn at PF but if summer league play is any indicator, Shelden is not ready for full-time duty. Pick up Josh Childress if he is available on the waiver wire or in later rounds of your draft if you have not drafted yet and enjoy solid percentages, and the potential for 12 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals. Keep an eye on Shelden Williams but don’t draft or pick him up off the waiver wire until he proves he can play in the NBA.
