Dropping Dimes On The Daily: January 25, 2007

Dropping Dimes On The Daily is all about me looking at the previous night’s performances and mentioning those that did pretty goodly and those that did pretty badly. Goodly is a word, right? Anyway, this will be a quick look around the league, so don’t expect a ton of text, just some daily fantasy basketball goodness!!! Please note that this is the fantasy basketball section of ElevationMag.com’s Daily Top Picks. Check it out and see your daily rumors, quotes, headlines, and facts! But read the fantasy section HERE!
The Fig Cap: Peekaboo! I’m back in the building! Sort of.
Of the top eight scorers, four were from the center position and they all scored at least 30 points. And who led them all? Chris Bosh? Nope, although he did score 35 points. Amare Stoudemire? Nah. Although no one would complain about 30 points. Ralph Sampson? Yeah, back when he was at the University of Virginia in the 80s. No, it’s Cleveland’s favorite Benedict Arnold, Carlos Boozer who, along with LeBron James (ironic isn’t it?), led the NBA last night in scoring with 39 points. And Boozer did it on 18-for-24 shooting from the floor. NICE!
Oh, and Tim Duncan was the other center with a surprising 37 points. Wow. Duncan usually doesn’t explode for this many points because he’s a team player and all that.
Tracy McGrady back to his old tricks dumping 37 points on Duncan’s Spurs for a win.
And if you picked up Earl Boykins and held on to him when he was traded, YOU ARE SMART! Or lucky, whatver. Earl the Squirrel dropped 36 points on the Kings, including five bombnizzles.
Andre Iguodala is Philly’s next big thing - 34 points, four boards, and nine dimes. I can guarantee you that the folks in Philly will start calling Allen Iverson the OTHER AI… okay, there will probably be some expletives in there as well.
The Memphis Grizzlies beat the Utah Jazz? That’s David and Goliath right there. Chucky Atkins held the sling, scoring 29 points and dropping 15 dimes. Nice.
Jason Kidd, again close to a triple-double with 26 points, ten boards, and seven assists. Of course, the eight turnovers SA-HUCK! What stinks even more is Monta Ellis hitting a game-winning shot to beat the Nets. Ellis came off the bench to score 20 points with six assists, which leads me to the following question… how is Sarunas Jasikevicius starting over Ellis?
When Stephon Marbury sits, Jamal Crawford’s game stands up - 29 points, six boards, 11 dimes.
Dwyane Wade does EVERYTHING! 32 points, five assists, eight assists, five steals, three blocks, and he even hit a three! The Heat are nothing without Wade! Unless they’re playing the Knicks.
Speaking of the Heat, Shaquille O’Neal is back! In 13 minutes of play, the Diesel scored five points, grabbed five boards, and blocked a shot. In about month (after the All-Star break), O’Neal will be putting up four times as many points, twice the boards and blocks. LISTEN TO ME. I know stuff.
Catch you on the rebound! I have work to do!!! Now, beat it!!!
