Dropping Dimes On The Daily: January 23, 2007

Kobe BryantDropping Dimes On The Daily is all about me looking at the previous night’s performances and mentioning those that did pretty goodly and those that did pretty badly.  Goodly is a word, right?  Anyway, this will be a quick look around the league, so don’t expect a ton of text, just some daily fantasy basketball goodness!!!  Please note that this is the fantasy basketball section of ElevationMag.com’s Daily Top Picks.  Check it out and see your daily rumors, quotes, headlines, and facts!  But read the fantasy section HERE!
The Fig Cap: “I’m about to burst your bubble, Melo, AI, and Gil Zero.”

With Melo and Answer in line to probably decrease each other’s points production, Agent Zero will have a battle to prepare for (probably in a Benihana uniform - HIBACHI!) for the scoring title.  And it’s gonna come from none other than Kobe BEEF Bryant.  KB24 scored 42 points last night on 11-for-22 from the field and 16-for-19 from the charity stripe.  Add in four treys and eight boards and Bryant was the hotness last night.

Speaking of Melo and AI, how did they do?  Anthony scored 28 points and taking 25 shots, while Iverson scored 23 points on 16 shots from the floor.  If things continue to play out this way, Melo should be the more dominant scorer as he will probably take more shots.  However, this was against the Grizz and Denver’s Dynamic Duo’s first game together.  Let’s see how it all pans out, but my opinion is that Melo will remain the main man in the high altitude of Denver.

Things that are real - Jessica Biel is hotter than any woman out there right now (yes, let’s debate this if we must), the best part of American Idol is the beginning with all the rejects, and Al Jefferson’s game is here to stay - 26 points, 14 glass cleanings, and two “get that shiznit out of here"s!  Okay, realistically, he won’t score mid-20s on the regular when Paul Pierce and Wally Szczerbiak are back and healthy.  However, the high teens, continued board work, and rejections could be expected.

Delonte West?  27 points?  Is he that good?  Yes!  Will he continue to be?  See above about Pierce and Wally eating into Jefferson’s point production.  Regardless, starting for the C’s again will help West’s value and he could be a 14/4/4 with a block and steal a game kind of guy the rest of the way.

Eddy Curry scored 26 points on 11-for-18 shooting… no wonder Shaquille didn’t want to come back against the Knicks last night.  And if you didn’t know, that was the rumor as to why Shaq delayed his return.

Mikki Moore - SPARKPLUG!!!  I watched this game that the Nets totally choked on after a huge lead, losing by one point thanks to a clutch Mike Bibby jumper with only seconds left in the game.  Anyway, Mikki Moore - SPARKPLUG!  He scored 22 points, not missing a shot in eight attempts from the floor.  Deep leagues, yes.  Standard leagues?  Answer this question and you’ll have your answer - do I, Dennis Velasco, have ANY chance with Jessica Biel?  (Head hanging down).

The rumor is that Pau Gasol wants out of Memphis and start taking the hardwood with some winners in contention for the playoffs.  But, how would that affect his value?  Last night Gasol put up 23 points, 17 boards, and six dimes.  If he goes to a contender, I bet performances like this will be few and far between.

If you’re desperate for a center in standard leagues, consider Andrew Bynum if he’s available.  Last night he scored 10, grabbed 15, dropped four, and rejected four.  Not too shabby.

Deron Williams - 21 and 15 assists.  Love it!  He’s that dang good!
Gary Payton - 10 and 13 dimes.  Know better!  Wade was on the bench.
Steve Blake - five points and a dozen dimes - Expect it!  Dishing to Melo, AI, and J.R.

My favorite line AKA the Divorce Shmivorce Line - Jason Kidd with yet ANOTHER triple-double to add to his career numbers - 18/10/10.

Catch you on the rebound!
