Dropping Dimes Injury Lowdown:  Andrew Bogut Out 6-8 Weeks

Andrew Bogut injured

The anticipated debut of Andrew Bogut and Charlie Villanueva for the Bucks frontcourt will have to wait. Andrew Bogut will be out 6-8 weeks due to a lower left leg sprain, an injury suffered on Saturday when Bogut banged his leg into Steve Blake’s knee during a team scrimmage. The injury was initially thought not to be serious, however, upon further evaluation by the team doctor, it was decided that Bogut would require rehabilitation for the injury.

Fantasy Lowdown:

The regular season starts on October 30.  With a recovery time for Bogut of 6-8 weeks, the worst-case scenario is that he will miss about a month of regular season action, with the best-case being that Bogut will only miss a couple of weeks of action. Dan Gadzuric and Brian Skinner will fill in for Bogut during his absence.

Depending on match-ups, don’t be surprised if Head Coach Terry Stotts decides to play a small ball high-tempo lineup. Villanueva could slide over to play center with Ruben Patterson or Bobby Simmons playing PF, Redd at the SF, and a backcourt combination of Mo Williams, Charlie Bell, or Blake could be a possibility. The key benefactor of the potential small lineup would be Charlie V because it’s very much possible that he could get C eligibility, which would up his value tremendously.

Keep an eye on the Bucks in the preseason and check out if Coach Stotts tinkers around and plays small ball. Be warned that when Bogut returns to the lineup it could take a few weeks before he is back in game shape. So be patient with Bogut!
