May 1st suddenly feels like a long ways off. The X-Men Origins: Wolverine trailer has arrived in its official glory after bouncing around the intertubes all weekend YouTube style, and I have to say, it looks pretty good. Check it out below the fold…

As a huge and longtime Logan and X-Men fan—with the tattoo to prove it—I haven’t been impressed with the X-Men movies so far, but I LOVE Hugh Jackman as Wolverine… as does my wife, but that’s another story altogether. So having Jackman fill the screen in a starring role rather than as a Cyclops sidekick is good times as far as I’m concerned.

It also looks like they’re drawing from and amalgamating a number of story sources—there’s Origins and Weapon X among others—and I vaguely remember that Gambit met Storm when she was a tyke and taught her to steal, so maybe that plays a part in the Gambit bit. I’m a little worried about the crazy amount of mutants (I see Emma Frost, Blob, Gambit, Sabertooth, baby Storm, Deadpool, and whoever Will.i.am is playing) in the trailer alone, but as long as Jackman’s center stage, I’m there on opening day.
