I don't know how successful the event is at growing the industry, but I do like getting a lot of free comics to sample - it's like opening up a birthday present and finding Christmas inside.

Cowboys: At Western Fictioneers, Troy Smith lays out his favorite Western comic books of all time. Bonus: Son of Tomahawk!

Mickey: Mark Evanier got himself an advance copy of Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse: "Race to Death Valley" (Vol. 1) by Floyd Gottfredson, published by Fantagraphics Books. And there was much rejoicing.

West: I love this poster by Thomas Perkins.

Bongo: Over at Bongo's blog, Comic Book Guy runs down a list of comic book places where he'd like to live.

Satan: Mike Sterling at Progressive Ruin has ended his two-year run of Sluggo Saturdays. He's onto something new, I think.

Starlin: Daniel Best at 20th Century Danny Boy has a message from Jim Starlin concerning the impending release of ‘Breed III #1. I’m in!

Writing: I missed this, but the writer J.M. DeMatteis has a nifty post up about how he broke into the comic book business. Its title: “Blame Levitz.”

Atlas: Do you what I need? More Ironjaw. Steve Niles will answer that request in Wulf The Barbarian #3.

Renounce: Critic Bill Sherman takes a look at Action Comics #900, that issue where Superman vows to give up his U.S. passport.
