The Best “Army of Darkness” Recuts / Remixes
Congratulations to all our winners!
Bronze Medal
Army of Darkness - Recut Trailer “2009 Comedy style”
GCsthedarkknight brings a summer-comedy spoof on the film. It has its moments of genius and charm, but the soundtrack does not sync up together all throughout the clip, removing the suspension of disbelief that this could be a real trailer. Regardless of little aspects like this, it still makes me laugh every time, and it deserves points for that. Most important though, this video deserves its place on our “Best of,” because it is definitely a cut above the rest of the Army of Darkness mash ups. And that says a lot.
Silver Medal
Army Of Darkness - Recut - Saving Private Ryan
almostfamous83 takes silver in a neck-and-neck race for the Gold. The video transforms Army of Darkness from a horror/adventure to a triumphant award-winning drama. Its unique take on the theatrical trailer for Saving Private Ryan and transposing it with clips from Army of Darkness creates an emotional fountain within all Army of Darkness fans. Asking the question: “Why wasn’t Army of Darkness even nominated for an Oscar?”
Gold Medal
Army of Darkness - Fix You - Trailer/Music Video
Gold goes to DriveByMPLSStyle, who has a knack for syncing music with film, making an innovative stand-alone creation. A melting pot of Raimi’s gore and Coldplay’s piano makes a stew of tasty delight. After watching it several times over, this video hovers high above other tributes to Army of Darkness. It is well deserving of its Gold medal in each category (trailers, recuts, revisions, and music videos). DriveByMPLSStyle has also done remixes of Ghostbusters with the Beastie Boys’ “Sabotage, as well as The Yeah Yeah Yeah’s “Gold Lions” with a trailer for Tango and Cash, both worth watching.
