Comic Book Jobs: Warner Bros

Batman Under The Red Hood DVDAre you tired of the hassle of trying to get a room at Comic Con International in San Diego each year? Do you want to be part of the solution and not the problem? Time Warner has your chance as they’re looking for a Director, Publicity & Special Projects in “Worldwide Television Marketing.”

You’ll be reporting to and working “closely with the Senior Vice President, Publicity, as chief consumer strategist for special projects related to, but not limited to, programming from Warner Bros. Television, Warner Horizon Television and Warner Bros. Animation.”

Fortunately, they expand on that. It means “strategizing, creating and executing consumer-facing campaigns, initiatives and events, and collaborating with the comedy, drama, unscripted and photo publicity directors and team to maximize opportunities across all of the Studio’s primetime television properties.” Consumer-facing campaigns, by the way, are those that are marketed to the public, ads and promotions that they actually see, y’know, with their face.

But what makes this a job suitable for a funnybook fanatic? This: the job’s main responsibility, which someone, like, say, me might consider a perk.

You’ll be “responsible for conceptualizing, planning and executing WBTV, WHTV and WBA’s participation in major events, including Comic-Con (and WonderCon, New York Comic Con, etc.), future L.A. Screenings Gala events, the Television Critics Association’s summer and winter press tours, and international press junkets.”

In other words, you’re the go-to person for conventions, conferences, and any place where Warner Bros. is going to make a presentation, either to the industry or the consumer’s face. It’s a world of travel, comics, television, movies, beautiful people, hand-shaking and expense accounts. In other words: sweet.

There’s plenty more at the link – a lot more responsibilities and requirements (college degree, work experience, understanding of social media), but hey, guaranteed admission to Comic Con International and a nice hotel room for your stay are really all that’s important.

Plus, you’ll be one of those people that comic book fans are talking about when they complain that there are too many Hollywood/Movie/TV people at the con. That is gold.

If you’re not a convention person, but more of a legal eagle, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment division is looking for a Senior Paralegal in their Burbank headquarters.

You’ll be handling clearances - music, stills, stock footage, talent - for their releases on DVD and other formats, and all sorts of legal rights-related stuff, but here’s the kicker: “This position has particular responsibility to work with the attorney handling the DC Comics home entertainment releases.”

So you’ll be seeing all of your favorite DC superheroes on DVD long before the rest of us. Perk? For some of us!

Good luck, job seekers!
