Comic Book Jobs: IDW and Diamond Comic Distributors
If you’ve been looking for a comic book job that allows you to wallow in a pile of numbers or computer technology, well, this is your lucky day.
IDW is looking for a temporary staff person in their accounting department.
IDW is one of the cooler comic book companies and they describe themselves as “a leader in the horror, action, and sci-fi genres.” They’re the home for CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Star Trek, Transformers and Doctor Who, to name just a few. They also publish Dean Mullaney’s Library of American Comics titles that makes me the happiest nerd in the neighborhood.
This is a temporary staff position, a minimum of three months in their San Diego offices, but could turn into something else over time.
You’ll be using your strong Excel and analytical skills to “prepare reconciliation reports for our book inventory.” You’ll be looking for discrepancies between IDW’s records and those of their distributors.
So if you’ve had experience “working with large volumes of data” and are “detail-oriented,” this is for you. The weather in San Diego is pretty good, and if this turns into a steady job, you’re as close to Comic Con International as you can get…until they move.
If numbers don’t do it for you and you’re more comfortable around machines, then perhaps Diamond Comic Distributors could be your new home. They’re looking for an EDI Specialist in their Timonium, MD office.
I’m pretty sure I’m the wrong person for the job because I can’t even make sense of the job description. See what you can do with it: “The EDI Specialist is responsible for the maintenance of the Gentran Server for Windows program, setting up partner I.D.’s and relationships, writing FTP scripts, mapping files, updates and other related EDI data maintenance, coordinating set up, quality assurance testing and rollout with new EDI customers…”
If that sounds as exciting to you as, say, an episode of The Good Guys does to me, then you should click the link and wallow in all the technical requirements and responsibilities.
Good luck, job seekers!
