Remember that whole digital thing that’s supposed to knock off the printed comic book? Oh wait, that’s still happening!
If you want to be part of the industry now that we’ve passed “peak comic book,” ComiXology the “digital comics leader” is looking for a couple of new people.
First up is a LAMP Developer, someone with “2+ years of experience with Linux, Apache, mySQL and PHP. Additional experience with AJAX/JavasScript/HTML5 (jQuery), XML, HMTL, XMLRPC, SOAP and other development environments is preferred.”
Next is an iPhone/iPad Developer with “2+ years of experience with Objective-C on the iPhone or Mac OS X. Additional experience with C and other development environments is preferred.” If you’re familiar with “Android Development, Scala (or functional languages in general) and/or OpenGL” that’s even better.
According to their PR, ComiXology currently sells digital titles from 9 out of the top 10 US comic publishers. That’s Marvel, DC, Image, Boom, Dark Horse, Archie and many, many more. If you want to know more about what they do, and how they do it, here's an interview with the founders.
If you understand anything about their two job listings, and you love the digital comics, get your resume in ASAP.
Good luck, job seekers!
