Comic Book Jobs: Checking Out Craigslist

Posted by Tom Mason Categories: Editorials, Dark Horse Comics,

Things From Another WorldCraigslist is like the Match.com of job hunting. Sometimes, you find a partner that’s not too damaged and looks good in the right light, and other times it’s all unemployed fatties still using their yearbook picture for their profile.

You can decide which is which today.

Los Angeles: It may not be the next Captain America or even Cowboys & Aliens, but if you want to be in a super-hero there’s a casting call for The Superluver Project. It’s “a new comic tale of a super-suave superhero and his quest to spread a little love and order around the world.”

Los Angeles: If you’re tired of fighting for a page rate, then how about an hourly rate? “Skilled comic book artists” are wanted  to draw superheroes (not caricatures) at special events in the area.

Portland: Things From Another World, the chain of Dark Horse-owned stores, is looking for retail sales associates at $9/hour to start.

San Francisco: Somebody’s “looking for female wrestlers to use as models for a comic book style super hero female wrestling calendar 2012.”

Campbell, CA: Kids Creative Adventures is looking for “part time instructors to teach after school classes at several Bay area elementary schools.” One of the classes is for Cartooning, Character and Comic Book Design, Illustration (K-8).

Seattle: Jonz Journey Studios is looking for five production assistants who like sci-fi and comic book stories and want to learn “about Movie Magic!”

New York: There’s never enough information to make these model searches sound any better than “Creepy” or “Eerie.”

Good luck, job seekers!
