Avengers Assemble Links!

Avengers MovieBecause we're all about The Avengers 24/7/365, here are a bunch of nice Avengers links that haven't been abused too much by the internets.

Assemble! My pal, the comics historian Peter Sanderson, takes a look at The Avengers. The money quote: “That climactic battle between the Avengers and Loki’s invading forces, in the heart of New York City, captured the fantastic spectacle and visceral excitement that the superhero genre can create more fully than I had ever imagined seeing in a live action film.”

Boingboing reports on The Avengers movie and piracy. Result? Piracy seems to have had little effect on The Avengers’ box office.

What a great post: Tom Spurgeon does all the heavy lifting at The Comics Reporter with a breakdown of the comic book creators involved in creating what became The Avengers movie. Simply a terrific read and a nice pocket history.

And still more Avengers: Noelene Clark at Hero Complex interviews director Joss Whedon about all things Avengers, Firefly and Buffy.

Finally, the writer Lance Mannion had some thoughts about The Avengers. Here’s the fourth in a series, which may contain spoilers. “I was hoping for other things too and some of them were in the movie and some weren’t. This is probably the case for every fan going to see The Avengers. But Joss Whedon couldn’t include everything and it helps to keep in mind that this movie isn’t the end of the line. It’s just one more installment in an ongoing series. And never mind what I was hoping for. The movie includes a lot of nice surprises.”

Now, go see the movie again. Because $1 billion just isn't enough!
