The Swedish author who penned a sequel to J.D. Salinger’s The Catcher in the Rye received a court ruling Wednesday that prevents him from publishing the book Stateside. The court judged that the book mirrors Salinger’s far too closely.
The novel, 60 Years Later: Coming Through the Rye, according to the judge, has “taken well more from ‘Catcher,’ in both substance and style, than is necessary.”
Originally, the book was scheduled for a late summer U.S. publishing schedule. It’s already been published in England, where no legal action against the tome has been taken.

New York Club Owner to Celebrate Perez Hilton

New York entrepreneur JE Englebert plans to rally for blogger Perez Hilton, allegedly assaulted in a recent altercation with will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas.
The club owner plans to host an event where Hilton will be the guest of honor - if he shows up - at Suzie Wong. The rally is meant “to show love, not hate,” according to Englebert. “Guess what is on the menu at the event?” He asked in a statement. “I plan on serving pea soup.”
Sounds a lot tastier than humble pie!

Paris Hilton made a big show of herself while working on her reality show in Dubai recently…flouting Arabic custom, the law of the land and basic good sense all at the same time.
While shooting for Paris Hilton’s My New BFF, the heiress put on a very revealing two-piece and frolicked on the beach for photogs. While this is typical Hilton behavior, it’s not typical for women to reveal so much in public in this part of the country - a practice she was warned against by producers.
An unknown source says “bosses warned her Western tourists have been jailed,” for breaking with the traditions of the nation, but Hilton did what she wanted to do anyway.

Thirty is the new twenty, white is the new black, reality is the new scripted TV, politicians are the new superstars, and impeachment is the new comedy act. Or at least, it’s all working for Rod and Patti Blagojevich.
The (former) Illinois governor won national media attention for his attempts to (allegedly) sell Barack Obama‘s former Senate seat. Now, he’s apparently ready to start winning laughs with his act for Chicago’s comedy troupe The Second City.
Impeached last January, Blagojevich has managed to turn his public fall from grace into a full-blown celebrity career that even includes wife Patti, cast member on I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here.

Candy Spelling, Barbara Streisand and Kate Gosselin are all touting new book projects - and that’s to name only a few. Over the years, many small and big screen stars have put their name on a cover and sold millions (and millions) of copies. One good example is Stephen Colbert’s I Am America (And So Can You), which went straight to the top of the New York Times bestseller list. It’s always been a personal peeve of mine, and it has never failed to distress me. Now I find myself almost continuously wondering, watching and wanting to sort it out.

Bill Murray assaulted a fan over the weekend with a golf ball - but don’t worry, it was an accident.
While teeing off in Tampa, Murray hooked his shot far to the left and hit Gayle DiMaggio plumb on the noggin. Surprisingly, however, the fan didn’t request monetary compensation or threaten a lawsuit. All she wanted from Murray, who quickly went to make amends, was a signed copy of his golf-themed flick Caddyshack.

Lindsay Lohan, who hasn’t had a single acting gig since the ill-fated I Know Who Killed Me, says it’s all your fault that she’s not working. And you’d better help her out quickly, because she’s having trouble paying her mortgage and handling her bills. Evidently, even Disney paychecks only stretch so far.
“If people would just leave my personal life alone - because, it’s really not that interesting - then I could land a great role,” Linds recently explained to E! “But, all the sicko fans and the noise is so distracting.”
Someone please explain to Miss Lohan that it’s called press - and nobody ever earned or maintained a spec of stardom without it.
“I just want to live the dream that I’ve worked so hard for since I was four years old. I’ve been through a lot in my life. And there are many things I’d like to do to let people know that they just have to be strong,” Lohan said…before she continued to whine about how troubling it is to deal with the press she gets.
