Katie Holmes and her daughter Suri CruiseKatie Holmes has filed for an emergency custody and child support hearing in New York.

The 33-year-old actress' - who began divorce proceedings against estranged husband Tom Cruise last week - requested an "emergent application" in New York City court yesterday to determine immediate custody and child support issues over the couple's six-year-old daughter, Suri. The filing means Tom - who is being represented by Dennis Wasser, one of Los Angeles' top divorce lawyers - will have to hire his own New York-based attorney and the couple will have to appear before Judge Matthew Cooper on July 17 in an open court.

"Katie filed an 'emergent application' in New York City on July 3. It's a motion seeking temporary emergency relief, which can include child support and custody. It also means that Tom is going to have to hire a New York lawyer - he can't use his California lawyer anymore. The motion also means that both Tom and Katie have to be present in court on July 17. A judge is now assigned to their case, which means it's no longer going to be an out-of-court settlement. They are scheduled to appear before Judge Matthew Cooper on July 17 at 9:30am," a source said.

Katie Holmes and her daughter Suri CruiseKatie Holmes filed for divorce in order to save her daughter from undergoing Scientology auditing.

The 33-year-old actress ended her marriage to Tom Cruise - who is a high-profile member of the quasi-religious cult - last week and sources close to the star have revealed she was worried their six-year-old daughter would be subjected to a process known as "sec checking," according to TMZ.com.

During these tests, the subject holds electrode handles on a device called an electropsychometer or E-Meter and is then asked a series of personal questions that help the church locate "areas of spiritual distress," but according to ex-members it is designed to help kids spy on their parents. While the person is being asked the questions, a church auditor collects E-meter readings from the device, which has been compared to a polygraph machine.

"[Snooki] handles it very well, but it did make me realize that you can't be selfish anymore. Nicole is preparing to give birth to a beautiful baby boy but she has to dedicate her life and her routine to him. I want to be selfish just a little bit longer - [it] made me kind of put a chastity belt on. It gave me the itch to wait a while."

Before she fell pregnant with fiance Jionni Lavelle's baby, Snooki was renowned for her wild partying and JWoww is proud of how her friend has adjusted to a quieter lifestyle: "She's actually an amazing pregnant person."

Halle Berry and NahlaHalle Berry has been ordered to pay $20,000 a month in child support.

Lawyers for the New Year's Eve star and her former partner Gabriel Aubry went to court on Monday, where a family law judge ordered the actress to hand over the sum for the care of their four-year-old daughter Nahla, gossip website TMZ reports. Gabriel, 36, had gone to court last month to request the sum but the case was adjourned because paperwork wasn't filled out properly.

The former couple - who split in April 2010 - are yet to resolve another dispute over Nahla, as the model is unhappy with Halle's plan to move to France with the youngster and her fiance Olivier Martinez. The 45-year-old Dark Tide star has previously spoken about relocating to France, in favour of the country's laws which will protect her offspring from prying eyes. "Laws that protect children, protect right to privacy. All I want is for my family and myself to have a normal life. When I'm not at work, that's very important to me," she said.

A court has yet to rule on Halle's desire to move.

Nick and Vanessa LacheyVanessa and Nick Lachey are expecting a baby boy.

The couple - who married in June 2011 - are reportedly "so thrilled" to be welcoming a son into the world in September. Friends told In Touch that the pair have been discussing names but "haven't picked one yet."

Vanessa recently admitted she was hoping the baby would be a boy because she loved the idea of a "mini" version of her husband: "It's going great, knock on wood! I'm feeling awesome and no morning sickness, no crazy cravings. I've always envisioned a little boy first. Maybe because when I fell in love with Nick - the man of my dreams and the father of my children - I could easily imagine falling in love with the mini-him; that's how I see it."

And the 31-year-old presenter won't be afraid to join in when it comes to male activities either when the youngster is a little older. "I want to be able to throw a baseball with my son and want to be able to just wrestle with him in the yard, and I want to do all that fun stuff," she said.

Diane Kruger and Joshua JacksonJoshua Jackson and Diane Kruger are ready to have children. The couple - who have been in a relationship since 2006 - are "working on" starting a family, the actor has admitted.

"Kids are one of those things that kind of happen, aren't they? Certainly we're working on it if that's what you're asking," Joshua said when asked if they plan to have children.

Both Joshua and Diane - who was previously married to Guillaume Canet for five years from 2001 - have previously insisted they have no desire to tie the knot, and though it is still not "important" for them to make their union official, they won't rule it out completely.

Earlier this year, Joshua, 33, sparked engagement speculation after he won a $45,000 necklace at auction and was quoted as announcing it to be an "engagement gift" for the 35-year-old blonde beauty and the Fringe star joked the purchase was a "horrible mistake" because of the rumors it sparked: "I made a horrible mistake at an auction by raising my hand when I shouldn't have, and it started a bunch of rumors that were very, very costly. We're not engaged."
