Nick Bollea, mug shotAfter injuring his friend in a car crash last year, Nick Bollea pleaded no contest today to felony reckless driving.  The 17-year-old was then ordered to serve 8 months in jail.  That sentence nearly equals the amount of time since the crash.

At the time of the incident, witnesses reported seeing Bollea drag racing against a friend.  His speeds were apparently in the neighborhood of 100 miles per hour.  Although Nick was quickly discharged from the hospital, the other occupant of his car was initially listed in critical condition.  That friend, John Graziano, will now require lifetime medical care.

Nick’s father, wrestler , spoke on behalf of his son - and his injured friend - to the sentencing judge.  (You can see that video after the jump.)  After speaking about his personal relationship with Graziano, Hulk said his son should not be given any preferential treatment.  He also said Bollea should not become a convicted felon.  He hoped the judge not to give up on his son.

Gary Dourdan, mug shot

Just a few weeks ago, TV Envy reported that Gary Dourdan would be leaving his post at CSI.  At the time, it appeared the actor who had played Warrick Brown since 2000 had made the decision to leave on his own.  But did he really?

Since that initial story, TV Guide hinted that Gary’s departure may have been prompted by studio execs.  Why?  Possibly because of an “ongoing problem personal to Dourdan.”

Miley Cyrus

This has definitely been a whopper of a week for singer Miley Cyrus.  Not only is she on the cover of People (Miley is one of the World’s Richest Kids, if you didn’t know), she’s admitted to being embarrassed by her new Vanity Fair photo spread and just now apologized for the internet pics viewed by every teen in America.

Via an exclusive statement issued to the magazine, the 15-year-old tries to chalk up her self-portraits to youthful errors in judgment:

“The pictures of me on the Internet were silly, inappropriate shots. I appreciate all the support of my fans, and hope they understand that along the way I am going to make mistakes and I am not perfect. I never intended for any of this to happen and I am truly sorry if I have disappointed anyone.  Most of all, I have let myself down. I will learn from my mistakes and trust my support team. My family and my faith will guide me through my life’s journey.”

Of course, you didn’t intend for this to happen.  No one ever does.

(You can find more stories about Miley and her photos here.)

Harry PotterSteven Vander Ark, Harry Potter fan, cried on the witness stand today as he talked about the current lawsuit between his publishers - RDR Books - and .

The lawsuit stems from Ark’s deal with RDR to publish a Harry Potter Lexicon, based on a highly successful site created by Ark himself. Rowling’s suit claims the work infringes upon her own copyright.

, Potter author J.K. Rowling stated that she’s been creatively stopped by the suit, claiming she can no longer work on her book projects due to stress created by the case. Today, Ark got emotional when asked how his relationship with other Potter fans has been affected by the case. “It’s been difficult because there has been a lot of criticism, obviously, and that was never the intention,” Ark said in court. “This has been an important part of my life for the last nine years or so.”

J. K. Rowling, arguably one of the most successful writers ever to walk the Earth, recently took the stand against Steve Vander Ark to argue about Harry Potter, arguably one of the most successful series of books ever penned. A lot of people have made a lot of money off of Harry Potter - including these two. So what could they possibly be arguing about?

Ark signed a deal with RDR Books to publish a reference manual dubbed “The Harry Potter Lexicon,” based on the Web site of the same name. And boy, is Rowling pissed about it. The novelist said she’s had to cease working on her new book due to stress, and that the problems of this lawsuit (and there is one, by the way) have “decimated my creative work over the past month.”

Sean Penn, Robin Wright Penn

We’ve surely seen some strange relationship news over the past two days.

Although he just recently went public with model Petra Nemcova, it appears Sean Penn may be closing the chapter on his bachelor lifestyle.  According to Extra, the actor and his wife, , have had a change of heart about their upcoming divorce.

The couple announced back in December that they would be putting an end to their long-running marriage.  The actors, wed since 1996, have two children together - Hopper Jack, 14, and Dylan Frances, 17.

Mary-Louise Parker, Jeffrey Dean MorganI give up.  I’m not sure when will get her happy ending now.

Just two months after I congratulated the Weeds actress for her engagement, People magazine reports the blissful period is sadly over.  For reasons currently unknown, she and co-star have already called it quits.  Hopefully this decision will finally put an end to the former couple’s on-again, off-again relationship.

Now Parker has a highly-publicized breakup with Billy Crudup and a broken engagement to Morgan under her belt.  Luckily, the mother of two has much more important things to attend to.

New Kids on the Block

Sure, I listened to the . I was a young girl in the 90s - find me another like myself who didn’t listen to this band. They rocketed to success, blazed a trail for all the boy bands which came after them, and sold 70 million albums while swinging their legs back and forth and wearing ripped-up jeans. I mean, what says superstars quite like that?

Now they’re all almost forty, and they’re going to attempt to do it (or…something sort of like it) again. Honestly, plainly, I’ve never been into aging rockers. I admire bands like The Rolling Stones and performers like Paul McCartney and sure I think they’re great, but there’s also something a little sad about almost-geriatric singers still playing an electric guitar (don’t believe me? Did you see the ?).
