Michael Douglas Set to Finish Cancer Treatment
Michael Douglas has just one cancer treatment remaining.
The Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps star, who was diagnosed with a tumor in his throat in August, is currently undergoing eight weeks of chemotherapy and radiation, and will undergo his final session this week. His recovery is then expected to take a further six weeks, with the Oscar-winning actor then to be subjected to periodic check-ups.
“No further treatments are scheduled after this week. He’s really happy about it ending. He was determined not to have a feeding tube, and he didn’t have to have one,” his publicist, Allen Burry, said.
Although the 66-year-old actor is expected to make a full recovery from the illness, he may not make anymore films. Instead, Michael reportedly wants to spend as much time with his family, wife Catherine Zeta-Jones and their two children, Dylan, 10, and Carys, seven, as he can.
“This is a man in the middle of a gigantic fight, and he wants to conserve his energy and resources. If he beats this, he intends to focus on spending time with his family. He looks like he has aged 10 years in weeks,” a friend explained.
