Lindsay Lohan Officially in Jail

UPDATE: L.A. sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore says it’s likely Lohan will only spend 14 days in jail.

You won’t be seeing any more tweets from Lindsay Lohan for at least a little while.

The 24-year-old, who was once again running late for a date in court, arrived at the Beverly Hills courthouse early this morning to be remanded into custody. Lindsay, who was accompanied by on/off attorney Shawn Chapman Holley, had to face Judge Marsha Revel one more time before formally starting her 90-day jail sentence.

Lindsay didn’t speak during the brief court appearance, but nervously watched on, biting her nails.

It was claimed by Holley that Robert Shapiro - who reportedly quit as Lindsay’s lawyer last night - was never officially hired to represent her and only worked as a “consultant.” (Shapiro supposedly joined Lindsay’s legal team earlier in the week after Holley resigned, and then allowed her to stay in the Pickford Lofts sober living house he founded.)

The judge told Lindsay she had amended the conditions of her sentence slightly, ordering her to enter a rehab facility within 24 hours of leaving jail, instead of the 48 she originally set. “I would like the transition to be sooner rather than later and I would like to speak to counsel about it in more detail,” Revel explained.

Because of overcrowding at the detention facility, it is likely Lohan won’t be incarcerated for more than three weeks. “I do not know exactly how long the jail will keep her. I can only impose the sentence,” the judge admitted.

Judge Revel then ordered the cameras to be cut off right before Lindsay officially surrendered to authorities and was led away by bailiffs. She will serve her sentence at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, California.
