Kerry Washington has given birth to a baby girl.

The Scandal star - who revealed her pregnancy last October - secretly welcomed her first child, Isabella Amarachi, with husband Nnamdi Asomugha into the world at a hospital in Los Angeles on April 21, according to gossip website TMZ.com.

"Kerry is at home with the baby," a source also told People.com.

Nnamdi, 32, signed the birth certificate more than a week after the birth.

The 37-year-old actress married the former San Francisco 49ers in a secret ceremony last July and previously admitted she was thrilled to be expecting their first baby: "I feel really, really blessed. It just feels like a really good time."

The actress, who celebrated her baby shower with 40 friends at producer and writer Shonda Rhimes' mansion in late February, recently said that being pregnant had made her a better actress. "I work very physically as an actor. The biggest thing for me has been the challenge of how to be this person with the personal transformation that's going on for me physically and how to stay true to this character. That hasn't been easy," she said.

But Kerry, who won praise for her maternity style, added, "It's been an awesome challenge for me as an actor because so much of how I access character is through my body. It's definitely been complicated, to say the least. I've learned a lot about other ways to access Olivia and be her."
