Royal Wedding: A Fairy-Tale Ending
Many details of the royal wedding are being kept under wraps, but we do know exactly how it will end: just like a fairy tale. The newly-wedded Prince William and his bride, Kate Middleton, will be whisked away from the ceremony in the State Landau, a 109-year-old carriage that would do Cinderella proud.
The royal couple will be taken from their nuptials at Westminster Abbey to the royal residence, Buckingham Palace. The vehicle was originally constructed for King Edward VII. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, William’s grandmother, usually only uses it while entertaining heads of state. The Landau will lead a five-carriage procession which will carry the entire wedding party, which includes Kate’s sister Pippa and William’s brother Prince Harry. The siblings will serve as the Maid of Honor and Best Man, respectively.
But, Princess Diana’s glass coach is on standby. The vehicle which carried the Princess to her 1981 nuptials will be pulled out of storage if it rains on the day of the wedding.
