Paris Hilton’s Latest Drug-Related Arrest
A new month means a new drug-related arrest for Paris Hilton.
The hotel heiress kicked off her weekend with a brief stint in jail last night after cocaine was discovered in her purse. The 29-year-old and and boyfriend Cy Waits were initially pulled over by Las Vegas police when suspected marijuana smoke was seen blowing out of their car. Waits, who was the driver, was later booked for a DUI (influence of drugs) while Paris was held for possession.
Hilton, who secured celebrity lawyer David Chesnoff as her attorney, was released on her recognizance a short time later without having to post any bail. According to TMZ, the socialite plans to use the “It Wasn’t My Purse” defense as her excuse.

Chesnoff released a statement later asking the media not to rush to judgment:
“Paris Hilton was released this morning on her own recognizance. This matter will be dealt with in the courts not in the media and I encourage people not to rush to judgment until all of the facts have been dealt with in a court of law. There will be no interviews and no more comments at this time.”
This is now the third drug-related arrest for Paris this summer. Last month, she was detained in South Africa for alleged possession of marijuana. She was eventually cleared by police when someone else in her entourage took responsibility.
In late July, Hilton was briefly held in Corsica for pot possession. Although she was questioned, Paris, who reportedly had less than a gram on her, escaped charges.
