On the Red Carpet at the 2011 Grammy Awards

Music was in the air Sunday night as the recording industry's finest arrived on the Grammy awards red carpet. Some celebs sparkled in their designer outfits, making our hearts sing. Others wore designs that hit a sour note. But, the trophies awarded on Sunday night were blind to pretty frocks and fancy tuxedos -- so, it's up to us to judge them.
Who rocked the red carpet . . . and who ended up being horribly out-of-tune with this glittery Hollywood event?
Justin Bieber's bright white tux was designed by Dolce & Gabbana, perfectly accented with a black tie and matching pocket sqaure. Why the Biebs decided to wear it wrinkled, and pair it with white high-tops, is completely beyond us. We know he's young, but he has enough handlers (and one very well-dressed mentor in the form of Usher) to know that this is a fashion mistake. You just don't insult D&G like this, Justin.
Miley Cyrus sparkles in this Roberto Cavalli number . . . it's just too bad she's covering up the gown with all that hair. Cyrus unfortunately chose open-toed shoes, so that her toes barely peek out under the gauzy material of the long frock -- and, it makes her look like she's barefoot. Not the best choice for a pop singer. The outlandish bracelets on her arms aren't the best choice for anyone, and the accessories only emphasize the odd tiger stripes on her gown. Cyrus always moves between extremes -- usually, she's far too sexy. In this loose, drapey gown with that hair, she looks downright frumpy.
We love Lea Michele's Emilio Pucci dress, but the sexy black number should never be paired with those clunky Louboutins. The platform heels might help boost Lea's height, but not her red carpet rating.
Rihanna manages to show just enough skin in-between the feathery layers of her white Gaultier gown. The clingy frock beautifully shows off the singer's curves, and if you read between the lines you can catch a glimpse of belly button. Very daring, RiRi! Her sexy, elegant gown is just bold enough to score Rihanna a Best Dressed nod for the night.
Newlywed Katy Perry also chose white for the red carpet -- but her Armani gown looks like its made from plastic. The sparkling top shows off Perry's assets very well, and we love the flowing train of the skirt . . . but, we hate the way it all looks together. Perry's gown is a little too revealing to be called glamorous, and we can't look away from that gleaming disaster she's using as a skirt. Katy looked sensational when she performed later on stage, but not when she walked the red carpet with husband Russell Brand, and that's why we're forced to give her the Worst Dressed award -- because we know the sort of fashion she's capable of pulling off successfully.
