MTV Host TJ Lavin Critically Injured
TJ Lavin, known to MTV viewers as the longtime host the Real World/Road Rules challenges, was critically injured following an accident on Thursday night.
The 33-year-old professional BMX dirt rider was competing in at the Dew Tour Championships in Las Vegas at the time.
According to ESPN, Lavin failed to get his feet back on the pedals after attempting a combination. The X Games medalist shattered his right wrist and broke several ribs upon falling. He was also knocked unconscious.
Lavin was transported to University Medical Center where he was placed into a medically-induced coma.
MTV, TJ's boss for the last 10 years, issued a statement about their friend. "Our thoughts are with TJ. He is an important part of MTV's extended family and we're all praying for him," the network wrote.
