Gilbert Gottfried Apologizes, Aflac Doesn’t Budge
Gilbert Gottfried is attempting to do some damage control now that he’s been fired as the voice of the Aflac Duck and offended an entire nation of people. He delivered an apology for his tasteless Twitter jokes via -- what else? -- Twitter: “I sincerely apologize to anyone who was offended by my attempt at humor regarding the tragedy in Japan,” he offered. The next tweet further adds, “I meant no disrespect, and my thoughts are with the victims and their families.”
Aflac hasn’t responded. The company released a single statement on the issue declaring that Gilbert Gottfried has been fired and a national casting search for a new voice is underway. We don’t think they’re going to give him the gig back.
