Designer Alexander McQueen Found Dead
UPDATE: McQueen had cocaine, tranquilizers and sleeping pills in his system when he died.
Fashion guru Alexander McQueen was found dead on Thursday morning in his London residence. In a statement issued by the designer’s office, reps said “At this stage it is inappropriate to comment on this tragic news beyond saying that we are devastated and are sharing a sense of shock and grief with [the designer’s] family.”
Scotland Yard has officially stated it is not treating the event as a suspicious death, though reports are circulating that the designer committed suicide. According to the statement, McQueen’s family “has asked for privacy in order to come to terns with this terrible news, and we hope the media will respect this.” Today, the fashion world is very dark indeed.

Sadly, McQueen’s death comes just before London’s Fashion Week, a glittering event that marks the parade of the year’s newest fashions. Just days ago, McQueen’s mother passed away, leading the media to make many speculations of their own.
Alexander McQueen won the British Designer of the Year award a staggering four times, and is known as a favorite frock-maker of many Hollywood A-listers. His gowns have been worn by a long list of celebs including Gwen Stefani, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Nicole Kidman and a whole host of others.
The police were called to McQueen’s home at approximately 10 am Thursday. He was declared dead by the paramedics who responded to the scene. His fashions were scheduled to be unveiled at New York’s Fashion Week today at 3:00 pm, though in light of recent events that will no longer go forth as scheduled.
