Celebrities Threatening to Defect

Seal, Heidi Klum

Not that long ago, comedienne Tina Fey (who is now for ever linked to her classic and spot-on impersonation) said she would leave Earth if the McCain administration takes over. She’s not the only celeb who’s threatened to turn their back on the U.S. if the war hero and hockey mom make it into the White House - though her words were perhaps a little stronger than most.

Susan Sarandon, Michael Stipe (REM) and Stephen Baldwin have all made similar statements. Now, recording artist Seal and model Heidi Klum are clamoring that they, too, can’t imagine living in an America where John McCain might rule.

“If McCain is elected and America staggers on further towards the abyss, then we will leave the country. That is not a problem for us.” Seal said recently to Vanity Fair.

Ah, the joys of an inexhaustible income. But what about all the rest of us? Sure, I’ve said it myself - that if Palin really does make to the White House, I’m moving to Canada. But not everyone is as rootless as I. Some Americans have homes, jobs they can’t change, tons of family and friends they don’t really want to leave.

Though McCain would make Seal and Heidi defect, the singer feels differently about Obama. “There is no doubt that he is a great man, and I would put a cross next to his name immediately, if I could,” Seal stated. He’s British, by the way, and can’t vote in our election…more’s the pity.  “The health system is a catastrophe, the economy has hit rock bottom, and [George W.] Bush has forced his country through lies into an unnecessary and horrible war,” Seal summed up his thoughts on the subject.

He isn’t the only celeb to sound off during this year’s highly intense and unprecedented campaign season. The ladies on The View can’t seem to get through five minutes without bringing up politics (and scares me personally), famous rappers are spouting lines about McCain, many stars have stepped forward to make statements…even Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt of The Hills have made their wishes known through T-shirts and six packs.

Barack Obama, John McCain

But at the end of the day, it’s still our country, our election, our future…no matter what the stars, with all their potential choices and plans to move, might say. A lot of us can’t simply leave.

We should go out and vote instead.

Clinton needs to drop out immediately and back Obama if the Democrats want to win in the fall (which they should because of the toxic environment for Republicans these days...)[/quote] Well i am sure Hillary will go an support Obama against the Republicans. They need unity now since it is a very very important election.
