As Promised, Charlie Sheen Sues Lorre, Warner Bros.

Charlie Sheen, Sheen's Korner

The tiger blood has hit the terrestrial realm. Charlie Sheen has been threatening to sue Warner Bros. for all they’re worth, and today his predictions more or less came true. Sheen lawyer Marty Singer filed a suit today demanding a cool $100 million from Two and a Half Men creator Chuck Lorre and the WB.

Think he’ll get it?

The lawyer put it pretty succinctly to the press: “When a production company and network are willing to hire someone who is a convicted felon and accused of putting a knife into his wife’s throat, and they know that this person has substance abuse problems, it’s obvious that their position in this dispute is ridiculous.”

That’s… ah…an interesting take on it.

And by the way, most of this isn’t at all motivated by greed or spite. Singer insists that Sheen is really doing all of this -- the crazy Webcasts, the lengthy rants, the unexpected attacks -- because he cares so much for his Two and a Half Men crew and fellow performers. “Charlie [Sheen] is looking out for the people he’s working with.”

Yeah, we can see that. Chuck Lorre, however, doesn’t seem to get all of Sheen’s altruistic motivations. His attorney was quick to fire back after news of the suit broke. He calls the allegations against Lorre “recklessly false and unwarranted as Mr. Sheen’s rantings in the media.”

Ooooh, burn! The lawyer (his name is Howard Weitzman) added, “This lawsuit is about a fantasy ‘lottery’ pay-day for Charlie Sheen. Chuck Lorre’s concern has been and continues to be about Mr. Sheen’s health.”

We’re glad someone else is worried about that, too. In the lawsuit, Sheen alleges that he was fired only because he took a public stance against Lorre. And, to prove that it isn’t just personal, the suit was filed on behalf of the entire Two and a Half Men cast and crew, not just Charlie Sheen.

Whether or not the cast and crew of the show wanted such action taken on their part remains a mystery. Warner Bros. and Men co-star Jon Cryer have both been reached for comments, but neither had any to offer.

In related news, one legal worry is off Sheen’s mind: TMZ reports that he and ex Brooke Mueller have at last reached an amicable custody arrangement.
