In Hollywood, actors have been known to have many different types of relationships with their nannies.  Jude Law had a short-lived fling that ultimately broke up his relationship with Sienna Miller.  Ethan Hawke is set to be a father again with his kids’ former nanny.  And then there’s Robin Williams.  The actor not only ended marrying his former employer, he remained by her side for nineteen total years.  Unfortunately, it looks like they won’t be making it to twenty.

After nearly two decades together, Marsha Garces Williams filed a petition for divorce in San Francisco last week.  The woman who once worked for both Williams and his first wife, Valerie, slowly moved up the ranks in Robin’s life going from nanny to personal assistant to spouse.  She later became his business partner as well when they co-founded Blue Wolf Productions.

Although it’s not clear what finally put an end to their long relationship, Robin’s personal struggles have been widely known.  The star has made several trips to rehab; his last visit happened back in 2006 for alcohol abuse.  His professional life has also had its share of dings recently.  It’s been quite some time since he has received any critical acclaim for his film work.  (Choices like License to Wed aren’t helping the matter.)

Let’s hope Robin gets back on his feet soon.  His fans would definitely welcome another Insomnia or One Hour Photo-esque performance in the future.
