Kirsten Dunst Opens Up About Depression
Although she was seen having a lot of fun earlier this year, Kirsten Dunst would like to make something clear: her visit to rehab had nothing to do with partying.
Dunst - who is currently filming All Good Things - spoke exclusively to E! about her recent stint at a popular treatment facility. The 26-year-old said she sought help for matters not related to substances. “I didn’t go to Cirque Lodge for alcohol abuse or drug abuse. I went there for depression.”
While some had speculated that Heath Ledger’s death might have prompted her admittance, the actress says the decision was actually months in coming:
“It was a good six months before I decided to go away. I was struggling, and I had the opportunity to go somewhere and take care of myself. I was fortunate to have the resources to do it. My friends and family thought it was a good idea, too. But I didn’t know where to go. My doctor recommended Cirque Lodge.”
Well, let’s hope Dunst was able to receive the help she needed. We’ve all seen how well Lindsay Lohan did after leaving the Lodge…
