George Michael Busted Again for Drugs
Move over Lily Allen and Amy Winehouse. Another British musician would like to get back into the media spotlight.
This past weekend, George Michael was detained by London’s Metropolitan Police after being caught (again) with illegal substances. The incident, which happened a month after the completion of his concert tour, became the singer’s fourth drug-related arrest in just the past three years. British papers have reported that Michael was found with crack cocaine and marijuana when he was nabbed in a public toilet - yes, another bathroom - on Friday.
Although officers confirmed arresting a 45-year-old for possession of Class A and Class C drugs, the man was eventually let go after receiving a ‘caution.’ No further action was expected to be taken.
ABC News
Earlier this year, Michael talked to ABC’s Chris Cuomo about having his license suspended for a 2006 incident. At that time, the former Wham! frontman was found slumped over the wheel of his car after taking sleeping pills. “I needed my license taken away. When you know you’ve done something stupid, punishment doesn’t seem inappropriate,” George said back in July.
While he doesn’t offer any explanations for his most recent run-in with the law, the performer did acknowledge via a statement how repetitive his actions were becoming.
“I want to apologize to my fans for screwing up again, and to promise them I’ll sort myself out. And to say sorry to everybody else, just for boring them.”
I don’t think Lily or Amy have ever said that better themselves.
