To call these dancers “quick movers” would be an understatement.

Although they’ve only been together for less than six months, Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Karina Smirnoff are now officially engaged. The two Dancing with the Stars competitors - who have known each other for about 15 years - began dating shortly after Smirnoff, 30, ended her relationship with Mario Lopez last summer.

According to sources, Maksim, 28, popped the question to Karina on New Year’s Eve while they were celebrating in Las Vegas. The proposal happened in between stops of their DWTS tour. (Both dancers are expected to participate in the next season of the ABC show when it returns on March 9.)

Chmerkovskiy and Smirnoff will eventually become the third married couple on Dancing with the Stars. (Jonathan Roberts & Anna Trebunskaya and Alec Mazo & Edyta Sliwinska are the other two pairs.)
