You may have heard that having a web community is a great way to increase sales, customer loyalty and word of mouth for your web business. Commonly people use a web forum as the centre point for a web community. However building a popular forum is no easy task and requires patience and dedication.

One thing that all entrepreneurs should remember is that it is important to constantly be getting your brand out there in all you do. Now, if you are the sole person running your venture, then you become the brand - and the brand becomes you in a way. There are a few small steps you can take to represent your brand to the fullest, and leave a great impression on those you come in contact with, or interact with digitally.

But what is a personal brand? Peter Montoya, author of The Brand Called You, defines it as “a personal identity that stimulates precise, meaningful perceptions in its audience about the values and qualities that person stands for.” But your personal brand is only as strong as the moments in which it is manifested.

Now, because YOU are the product, because YOU are what people want, and because YOU need to make an UNFORGETTABLE first impression; everything must be stamped with your personal brand.

Now, I think this one is cool in theory, but I just don’t see the way that it could be used in the real world. Basically, PixelPass allows you to charge micro-transactions for visitors to read your content. I like that you can choose which pages to charge for, as you paste the code on the pages you would like to be subscribed to, and I like that you can’t charge any more than $2.00 per month. What I don’t like is that PixelPass gets 40% of it - although I understand why - because if you charge 25 cents, you aren’t really going to be making any money. The other thing is that if you implement it, then remove it because you don’t like it, those that paid end up getting screwed.

This is great news for those of us working out of our homes using Comcast High Speed Internet. Just recently they upgraded their download speed from 3.0 Mbps to 4.0 (6.0 for $10 extra on their Gold Tier). Well, feeling the heat from services like Verizon FIOS, Comcast is once again going to upgrade the download speed on their network. Those who subscribe to Comcast Expanded Basic cable will see their speed rise to 6.0/384 with no price increase. Even better, if you pay $10 extra for the Gold Tier, you will get 8.0/768 - that is a great deal. All markets should receive the upgrade by the end of the summer.

Check out this new - and free - tool to manage your submissions to Web Directories. The site lists all directories in its database, and allows you to search by Free, Reciprocal, and Paid services. You can then click over to any service and submit your site. After doing so, you can check off that site so that you know you already submitted to them. When approved, you go back and check the Approved checkbox, and then you know there is no more need to follow up with that particular directory. They say they will continually add new directories to the list as they discover them.

Brainstorming Secrets

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories:

Have you been in a “brainstorming” session where each person just defended their own ideas? Worse is when people don’t suggest ideas at all, for fear they’ll be attacked. That’s no way to brainstorm. Brainstorming is using the power of many minds, and ideas should flow freely and trigger other ideas. How do you make that happen?

RSS is really an important topic to understand now. The majority of the Internet has yet to fully accept RSS, and this puts you at a distinct advantage to get your foot in the door early. Obviously, if you run a blog or content site, RSS is a no brainer. Nowadays, you can even use Google AdSense For Feeds or Feedster Media to monetize your feed. Now, if you sell items, you can use RSS to update your clients on new offerings (Woot does a great job of this), and even offer tracking information via RSS.

To launch your RSS feed to your readers create an article explaining why you are making an RSS feed available or if you have a blog, then blog about it. If you have a newsletter then add some information that will appear on each newsletter to tell your readers that they can get your newsletter via RSS. RSS will be a lot less maintenance for you than an email subscribers list.
