Web page authoring languages come in many flavors - HTML, DHTML, Java, XML, PHP…and the list goes on. There are many cool things one can do with a dynamic page that a static HTML equivalent can’t provide. For example, information can be updated in real time with up to the minute data without any intervention of a webmaster. Always remember, though, that if you use CGI or another form of dynamic HTML, that you may be passed over by the search engine spiders. The big boys like Google and Yahoo! have gotten a bit better about this, but truth be told, even they pass over some information that is generated dynamically. If you have information that you absolutely want to be sure is indexed, make sure that the information is presented in a static format somewhere on your server in an unprotected area.

It is done on a whiteboard video, and is very unique - as well as spot on, I believe. This is a good viewing piece for anyone that wants to blog effectively, and sustain a captivated audience. You know, this is something that I can’t stress enough to any Internet entreprener that I meet in passing or at a conference. Really, there are many things you can do for your business to make it grow, and make it more successful - the thing is, many of us forget about the things we need to do for ourselves that will make us grow and become more successful. Work-Life balance is really important. Case in point, this great post from Brad Feld:
However, until about five years ago, I had absolutely no balance in my life. I was on the road from Monday to Friday, arriving home exhausted at the end of the day Friday. Amy got “the dregs” over the weekend – I’d sleep a lot, spend time in front of my computer getting caught up on all the crap I didn’t get to during the week, and when we went out, I’d always be tired and withdrawn. The burnout cycle continued; every six months I’d completely crash from the effort (I graphically remember a vacation to Hawaii with friends where I slept 20 hours a day for the first four days – so much that Amy thought something was physically wrong with me.) Microsoft’s next iteration of its Windows operating system has finally received its official name - Windows Vista. Now, looking at the definition of Vista, things start looking bleak:
Vista:
1. A distant view or prospect, especially one seen through an opening, as between rows of buildings or trees.
2. An avenue or other passage affording such a view.
Distant view is certainly apropos - it has taken forever for Longhorn to come into fruition. Now that it has an official name, the Beta is set to drop on August 3.

It is always nice to know where your readers are going when they leave your site. MyBlogLog provides a free service which allows you to track the ten most popular outbound links from your site each day. If you want to pay the $25 per year for their Pro service, you get much more than just the ten most popular outbound links. This allows you to see which colors, positions, topics, wording, etc. are most effective for your readers. I have used the service, and I find that the information it provides is very valuable. Implementation is as simple as adding a line of code to your HTML.

Blogging has been the Internet buzz-word for the last year or so. Many have jumped on the bandwagon, only to stop updating their blog a short while later. Others have fallen into a groove, and have picked up readership - and in turn, income - through perserverance. Duncan Riley makes some valid points about what it takes to be a successful blogger:
1. Post regularly
I can’t emphasize enough that you wont build traffic unless you post regularly. Blogging should never be a chore but try setting a time each day you can spend reading and blogging as required. By all means take days off, but develop a pattern
2. Post quality
You need to provide readers with a reason to return, and quality does it all the time. Quality is of course subjective, so some research in your market or amongst your peers might give you an idea of what works, or what isn’t being catered for.
3. Don’t give in
There are going to be times where you get the blog blues, where you’d ask yourself why you even bothered, we all get them at some stage, your success will be measured on your ability to get past this and get on with the task at hand. Remember, the longer you post and the more you post, results in more traffic from search engines, which means more visitors to your blog.

There is no way around it, everyone will tell you that search engine optimization is important. I think it is true to different degrees depending in the type of web site you are running. If you are doing a content driven site, then it is my belief that the best SEO you can do is write good content, and update frequently. Of course, there are plenty of legitimate internet business ventures out there that have very little content - say, a sales site. This eBook actually has some really good information in it and provides nice tips on different things any webmaster can do to make their site a bit more visible to the online world.
