TeleNav today announced that the TeleNav GPS application will be available in the Apple App Store as a free download for Verizon Wireless iPhone 4 users when the device is released on Thursday, February 10.

TeleNav allows user to access free maps and perform local searches. Advanced navigation features are also available, including spoken turn-by-turn directions and 3D moving maps. The advanced features will be free for 30 days after downloading the app. After that they will cost users $2.99 per month on a pay-as-you-go basis, or $21.99 per year. Regardless of whether users choose to pay for the advanced navigation features, the GPS map and local search capabilities will remain free.

"We designed this app and the pricing structure to give people a choice when it comes to meeting their GPS needs… Our goal is to make it easy for people to find where to go and how to get there with the best choice in personalized navigation," Sal Dhanani, co-founder and vice president of products for TeleNav, said in a statement.

Verizon usually preloads its phones with the Networks In Motion-powered VZ Navigator. It is possible that NIM wasn't able to deliver an iPhone version of its navigation software in time for the iPhone's launch.

TeleNav has typically come preloaded on AT&T devices in the past. It is currently available in the Apple App Store for the iPhone 4, 3GS, and 3G. It is likely that the Verizon version of the app will be near-identical to the version on AT&T.
