Soul by Ludacris

Signeo's Soul by Ludacris series headphones are slated for release this May, the company said Wednesday. There are five headphones in the series, three over-ear and two in-ear headphones with prices ranging from $300 for the high-end SL300 to $69 for the entry-level SL49.

The SL49 in-ear headphones are your average sub-$100 cans. Priced at $69, the SL49 offers high-definition quality audio and has a tangle-resistant cable. Also included are three extra ear tips: small, medium, and large for an ideal fit. For $99 the SL99 offer nearly identical features as the SL49s with the exception of the construction of the ear buds, which are bigger.

For those who prefer over-ear headphones, Signeo and Ludacris offer three different models. The SL100, which retail for $149, are the smallest of the over-ear headphones and come in two different colors, with red/black and blue/black tones. All are compatible with iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad, and iPods, and they include standard and iPhone detachable cords with an in-line remote. The detachable cords are compatible with most devices with 1/8 or 1/4 headphone jack. For an additional $50, the SL150 offers the same features as the SL100 but are bulkier with bigger ear cups and come in two-toned black/white and white/black.

HTC Thunderbolt extended battery

The HTC Thunderbolt has the fastest Internet speeds I've ever seen on a cell phone, but using the 4G LTE network really kills its battery life.

In our tests, I got eight hours of 3G talk time with the Thunderbolt, six hours of video playback time, and only 2.5 hours of LTE streaming. So what's an Internet fan to do?

HTC and Verizon will offer a very high-capacity extended battery, the companies told me. The 2750 mAh battery is nearly twice the capacity of the Thunderbolt's built-in 1400 mAh unit. The big battery will cost $49.99 and will be available very soon, said Pat Bucci, Verizon's director of accessory products.

The new battery makes the phone about an ounce heavier than its existing 6.5 ounces, and it comes with a new back that makes the phone deeper as well, Bucci said.

"We want customers who are power users, that are going to have the hotspot on all day, to just go," he said.

iPad 2 japan quake

The effects of the Japanese earthquake may affect Apple's production of the iPad 2, according to market researcher IHS iSuppli.

The firm said it believes that Apple's iPad 2 uses components from several manufacturers affected by the earthquake, as well as the reactors in the area which workers are attempting to keep intact, if not functioning.

Apple representatives were not able to be contacted after hours. The company has already delayed the iPad 2 launch in Japan following the earthquake in Japan a week ago, which has not been rated magnitude 9.0 by the U.S. Geological Service. The iPad 2, which went on sale in the U.S. last Friday, was scheduled to launch in Japan on March 25.

iSuppli said it had identified five parts sourced from Japanese suppliers whose supplies may be affected by the quake: NAND flash from Toshiba, dynamic random access memory (DRAM) made by Elpida Memory, an electronic compass from AKM Semiconductor, the touch screen overlay glass likely from Asahi Glass Co. and the system battery from Apple Japan Inc.

T-Mobile really wants you to know the Sidekick 4G is coming. In a new video, product manager Joe Fernandez shows off the phone's sliding mechanism and Android interface. We've captured some images from T-Mobile's video for your viewing pleasure below.

The new Sidekick interface is definitely based on Android 2.2 and Samsung's TouchWiz, although it has some unique Sidekick touches, like those links on the right-hand side of the screen. Samsung's "Feeds and Updates" social-networking widget appears in the video, though.

Sprint Overdrive Pro

Sprint today announced that the Overdrive Pro 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot by Sierra Wireless will be available on March 20. It is the next generation of Sprint's previous Overdrive 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot, increases the number of shared users from five to eight, and has a 45 percent larger LCD screen.

Sprint claims the Overdrive Pro offers a number of enhancements over its predecessor, focused mostly on performance and usability. There is a 35 percent improvement in power-up and power-down times. The integrated LCD screen is now 45 percent larger to provide a greater viewing area, while the device itself is actually smaller for easier portability. And the LCD can now display detailed connection and device information through additional screens that can be accessed by double-pressing the power button.

The Overdrive Pro allows users to connect up to eight Wi-Fi-enabled devices simultaneously–including laptops, tablets, eReaders, gaming devices, cameras and even smartphones from other carriers–through a single connection (via Wi-Fi) to Sprint's 3G or 4G networks.

Abiding PerditionIt's time to visit my favorite place that isn't in front of the TV: Craigslist. Let's see who's hiring:

Heroic Publishing in Long Beach, California is looking for an assistant for a couple of days each week.

A female model is needed for a superhero photo shoot "for a comic book project for class."

A live-action comic book movie needs an actor to play the villain. "Any stage fighting, martial arts, and certainly any acting background is preferential but not absolutely necessary."

1821 Comics in Los Angeles is on the hunt for interns. They're doing the Romeo And Juliet: The War graphic novel with Stan Lee.

A "Comic Book Group" based in New York is looking for the full run of comic book freelancers: pencillers, inkers, colorists, letterers.

Good luck, job seekers!

ShrapnelHeads up, Los Angeles!

The publishers of Shrapnel and Lords Of Misrule and Hercules, Radical Studios, is looking for a Director of Retail Marketing to “manage, build and grow our retail merchandising business.”

You’ll report directly to the Chief Marketing Officer and “will be a key contributor on the Radical Studios marketing and sales team.”

Lots of fun stuff involved in that position: retail marketing strategies, point-of-purchase displays, social media and email programs with retailers. Plus trying to keep editorial, creative and sales people from getting up in everyone’s grill.

You’ll need an understanding of the mass market retail biz (both the big box and bookstore models), as well as knowledge of the direct market.

Radical has a nice spread at Comic Con International at San Diego so you’ll most likely join in the fun at your boss’ expense.

That way, if you land this job, you can buy me a drink.

Cash RegisterComic book jobs pop up in the weirdest places and encompass a wide variety of employment opportunities, at least as I define the term.

See what you think!

Hey girls! Do you want to join the B.I.M.B.O. Squad and “fight for justice against real super-villains with super powers”? There’s a casting call for actresses in British Columbia to try out for a new web series that will also involve slapstick and free lingerie.

In Los Angeles, a manga publisher is looking for a graphic designer for their covers.

Netflix for Android

An alleged Android app for Netflix leaked on the Internet on Thursday, but doesn't appear to stream videos yet.

Android Police discovered and tested the app on an EVO phone, but couldn't get anything to stream.

"Everything looked good up until the point where I actually wanted to watch a movie – and then...nothing," blogged Will Shanklin.

Last November, Netflix blamed Android's fragmentation issues for not being able to offer a Netflix app on all Android phones. Netflix does, however, have streaming apps for the iPhone and iPod touch as well as an updated iPad app. Boxee finally added a Netflix app last month after multiple delays due to security issues.

Helping Japan

Posted by Tom Mason Categories: Editorials,

SendaiThe images and news reports coming out of Japan are absolutely heartbreaking.

If you’re an artist and would like to do something to help out, Wednesday’s Heroes has a way to contribute.

Craig at the site has started an art auction and he’s looking for donations from folks who want to participate. Details at the link. The Fraim Brothers, Mitch Byrd, Gene Colan, and Robert Pope already have stuff up with more to come.

Tom Spurgeon at The Comics Reporter has a number of related links to other ways you can help, along with announcements related to those affected by the crisis.

Robot 6 also has a nice round-up of helpful links.

Japan was a big help to the US following Hurricane Katrina and the US comics industry is very closely aligned with the Japanese manga industry, so if you can please lend a hand.
