Ari predicted that Vince would have offers pouring in as soon as the movie opened at #1. Now that it has, Eric is calling Ari bright and early Monday morning wanting him to pay up. Claiming that his word is good, Ari tells them to get to his office first thing. Turtle, Drama and Eric try to make a clean getaway, but Dom manages to wake up in time for the meeting… and just in time to take the driver’s seat away from Turtle once again. As they approach Ari’s office, Eric asks Dom to be on his best behavior. Having been rehabilitated by the State of New York, Dom claims that he is a changed man. But he is still willing to beat up the ‘Oriental’ (Lloyd) if he catches him looking at him.

Cable and Big Networks Team for Wider Exposure

The trend to air cable shows on their sister networks is becoming more prevalent these days. We had reported earlier about the move by Fox to air episodes of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia before the second season premiere of the show began on FX. More networks are following this model, including:
- Kyle XY – an ABC Family series that airs Mondays at 8 PM, also airs on ABC on Fridays
- The 4400 – shown on USA on Sundays at 9 PM, NBC also aired The 4400 on June 3
According to an article in USA Today, corporate synergy is fueling this pairing since there are a number of cable channels with big network connections. In the case of Sunny in Philadelphia, the final episode that Fox aired averaged 4.1 million viewers and won its time slot among young adults. FX president John Landgraf believes the additional exposure works, saying “They have such a larger reach than we do, it’s a great way of exposing new viewers to our shows… we’re turning over every stone we possibly can.”

Following an emergency operation to repair complications from a previous cancer surgery, Roger Ebert is in serious but stable condition. Ebert has had several cancer surgeries to remove tumors on his thyroid and salivary glands. This recent surgery was to remove another cancerous growth on his salivary gland, but a blood vessel burst near the site of the operation.
Ebert, 64, of course is best known for his role as The Chicago Sun-Times’ film critic. His pairing with fellow critic Gene Siskel provided the opportunity to review films with their well known “thumbs up” or “thumbs down” rating system. Siskel died in 1999, but the balcony did not close on the review show – instead Richard Roeper joined Ebert to continue critiquing films.

Sopranos Actors Finally Agree to Return for Last Episodes

Good news, Sopranos fans! Silvio and Paulie won’t be sleeping with the fishes for the final eight episodes of the show (at least not right away, anyway). Quite a few of the show’s actors had been holding out on signing contracts for the last episodes; now, the last two hold-outs, Steven Van Zandt (Silvio Dante) and Tony Sirico (Paulie Walnuts), have finally signed on for the show’s conclusion. They had been asking for a whopping $200,000 per episode, but, according to The New York Post, were talked down to $187,000. I’m glad HBO finally settled with them because it would have been incredibly difficult for David Chase to write out two such important characters. Apparently, the deals came just in time for wardrobe fittings later this week. Filming for the final eight episodes is set to begin next week.

According to a poll done by Britain’s Eve magazine, Kristin Davis of Sex and the City is the most beautiful woman in the world. According to the magazine’s editor, Davis was chosen for her natural beauty, sex appeal, intelligence, independence, and onscreen presence.
Davis, 41 - who cites her mother as the source of her best beauty advice - is best known for her work on Sex and the City but lately has been doing more family-friendly fare, such as The Shaggy Dog and The Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl. Next up for Davis, is All Lit Up with Matthew Broderick, Danny DeVito, and Kristin Chenoweth.
Just missing the top place on the list, was Catherine Zeta-Jones (The Legend of Zorro) in second place, Halle Berry (X-Men) in third, and Nicole Kidman (The Interpreter) in fourth.
Also on the list was Charlize Theron (Æon Flux), Kate Beckinsale (Underworld), Kate Winslet (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), and Eva Longoria (Desperate Housewives).
At number nine, Jennifer Aniston of (Friends and The Breakup) is probably relieved that she beat out ex-husband Brad Pitt’s new squeeze, Angelina Jolie (Mr. & Mrs. Smith), who made the list at number ten. Although Jolie is hardly hurting for attention, having recently topped the list of People‘s “100 Beautiful People”. (Aniston was not included this year, despite having been high on the list many times before and even gracing the cover in 2004).

My Unfair Brady

I have not been following My Fair Brady: We’re Getting Married on VH1. The reality show stars America’s Next Top Model‘s first winner, Adrianne Curry, and the man who will forever be referred to as “Peter Brady”, Christopher Knight.
I will admit that I followed their romance through its beginning stages on The Surreal Life 4 and then through the first season of My Fair Brady. I watched Curry struggle to convince Knight to marry her and his bittersweet proposal.
Now that they are officially engaged and continuing to whore themselves on reality TV, I can’t help but feel somewhat sickened by it all. It is sometimes painful to watch, hence the reason why I haven’t been watching regularly.
This season has so far shown the couple clashing over many issues, such as whether or not Knight, 48, should get a vasectomy (Curry, 23, was strongly against it).
Many of their friends and family - including Knight’s sister, who disapproves of Curry’s nude modeling, and former Surreal Life roommate, Chyna Doll - think that the couple are making a mistake jumping into marriage. I suppose VH1 would like us to view them as a pair of star-crossed lovers, the likes of Romeo and Juliet (minus the suicides), but I’m having trouble finding any redeeming qualities to their relationship.
The episode in which they go to couples therapy was sickening. It was the first time that I saw Curry as the mature member of the relationship, which at half Knight’s age is kind of sad. When their counselor, Dr. Pam, suggested perhaps that he is at the root of their communication issues, he turned into “my fair baby”. It has been quite a while since I watched a grown man pout. Apparently, no one has ever told Knight that he was wrong - about anything - ever in his entire life. Or at least that’s what he’d like you to believe.
First he was ready to pack it all up and go home without finishing the therapy session; later he spiraled downward into a guilt-induced depression. Anyone who ever doubted Knight’s acting abilities while on The Brady Bunch can see that he certainly can act. It takes quite a skilled actor to turn the tables around and get Curry comforting and feeling sorry for him! You don’t listen to your fiance and you condescend to her… poor poor you!
I supposed stuff like this makes for good television, but I can’t imagine it will make a good marriage. Unfortunately there will be none of the “will they or won’t they” suspense from last episode. Knight and Curry were married on May 29; the wedding episode will air Sunday, July 23.

Big Week Ahead—American Idol and Emmy Nominations

This week has two biggies:
First, beginning Wednesday, July 5th, the American Idol Top 10 will start their American Idols Live tour. The 60-day tour will begin in Manchester, New Hampshire and end in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania on September 24th. Now’s your time to catch Ace Young’s wicked falsetto again. Of course, I bet the big draw will be Chris Daughtry—the biggest upset of the Idol season.
Second, it’s almost time for the Emmy nominations! On Thursday, July 6th, at 5:39 AM (huh? why not 5:40?), Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Brad Garrett will announce the Emmy noms. We’ll have a rundown of the categories here, so check back for details.
The O.C. Moving To Friday Night

Fox’s rich kid drama “The O.C.” is moving to a new night! The network has only ordered 16 new episodes of the hit show, instead of the usual 22, possibly indicating that the end is near for the show.
Fox has also announced that rather than put “The O.C.” up against hit shows “CSI” and “Grey’s Anatomy,” which will both be airing at 9 PM Thursday in the 2006-2007 season, the show will now air on Friday nights. I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m excited about the change—I’ve never seen “The O.C” because of the time slot (I’ve heard it’s possible to watch something else when Jorja Fox is on TV, but honestly, I don’t believe it) and now maybe I’ll get a chance to watch and finally understand what everyone else is talking about!
