Monday Ratings: Castle Has Strong Second Outing

While it’s doubtful Castle would be able to do this well without DWTS’ support, the series did show promise in its second week. The Nathan Fillion vehicle joined forces with the ballroom hit to give ABC another double win last night.

Monday Ratings: DWTS Has Best Premiere Yet

Jewel and Nancy O’Dell’s loss was Dancing with the Stars’ gain. Despite being in its 8th season, the program saw its largest premiere audience to date. (I think we can safely attribute that to the Melissa Rycroft factor.) The reality show’s return easily gave ABC wins in both the viewers and the demos last night.

Monday Ratings: Rosy Evening for ABC

Jason Mesnick’s shocking reveal might not have done much for his reputation, but it did plenty for ABC. Yesterday’s Bachelor episode saw its largest audience since 2003 (when Bob Guiney picked Estella Gardinier). The finale - coupled with the post-show special - also led ABC to an easy win last night.

Monday Ratings: Heroes Can’t Rescue NBC

CBS’ repeat-filled lineup gave NBC a chance to pick up some ground yesterday. Unfortunately, the Peacock squandered its opportunity and sunk even further last night. FOX, in the meantime, seized the evening and placed first in both the viewers and the demos.

Monday Ratings: A New Low for Chuck

Chuck‘s post-Super Bowl boost disappeared in just a matter of weeks. Back on February 2nd, the show had its largest audience of the season. Yesterday, the program hit a series low. The Bachelor, in the meantime, hit another season high last night.

Monday Ratings: Obama Rules Over Primetime

As depressing as economy talk might be, President Obama had people listening. Last night’s news conference raked in approximately 49.5 million over eight networks. While it was clearly the biggest event of the evening, the presidential presser paled in comparison to Bill Clinton’s first newser in February 1993. (That primetime event drew in 64.3 million.) Although its news coverage came in second, CBS ended up winning the night in both categories.

President Barack Obama8pm

  • ‘s coverage of the Obama presser (3.1/8 in 18-49) pulled in 11.49 million.
  • Approximately 9.78 million watched the conference on (3.0/8).
  • had 9.75 million (3.1/8) listening about the economy.
  • attracted 5.9 million (2.2/6) for the newser.
  • * (1.7 million, 0.8/2) was down 600,000.

Monday Ratings: NBC Improves, But Not By Much

Sunday’s commercials may have paid off financially for NBC, but they didn’t help much with the ratings. Despite endless ads for Monday’s programs, the lineup only showed marginal improvement. By night’s end, CBS was on top with the viewers while FOX was first place in the demos.

Description8pm

  • (14.8 million, 5.5/13 in 18-49) had Monday’s best demos.
  • (11 million, 4.1/10) wooed another 400,000.
  • (10.8 million, 4.1/10) added on 1.5 million; (10.3 million, 4.2/10) scooped up 2.2 million.
  • (8.4 million, 3.0/7) had its largest audience all season.
  • (2.3 million, 1.1/3) was up 700,000.

Chuck in 3-D

(You can view TV Envy’s Midseason Programming Schedule here.)

MONDAY 2/2)
  • Chuck (NBC, 8pm):  “In a 3-D edition, global rock star Tyler Martin () is marked for murder, so the agents kidnap the musician to discover who’s behind the deadly plot.”  Unfortunately, they don’t understand his “My-plane-crashed-on-an-island-and-there-were-these-Others” story either.
  • Heroes (NBC, 9pm):  “The newly powerless Hiro resolves to help Ando become a true superhero.” Sorry, Suresh. You’re stuck with creating powers for yourself.
  • Medium (NBC, 10pm):  Season premiere. “Daughter Bridgette lands in trouble at school for drawing nude pictures of her art teacher.” She earned an “A” for technique, but an “F” for accuracy.
  • For the Love of Ray J (VH1, 10:30pm):  Series premiere. “The actor, singer-songwriter and brother of Brandy moves 14 beautiful women into his mansion and starts his search for love.” If can get a reality show, I guess her sex tape partner should get one too.

Casting Corner: 30 Rock, Heroes, Samantha Who and More

Billy ZaneMichael Weston

Here’s a quick look at some of the casting announcements made recently:

Ugly Betty: Betty may never change her style, but she’ll always have new love interest. EW reports that actor Daniel Eric Gold (Definitely, Maybe) will be the latest man to enter Suarez’s life. The intelligent fellow will be one of her classmates in her new YETI program. Unfortunately, Gold - who is currently listed as a recurring player - will also come with a “secret.” (I believe that’s a show prerequisite.)
