Hey SNL…What Happened to Darrell Hammond?

Today, everyone’s talking about SNL’s new female cast member. She was hired to shake things up a bit, and that she did, by dropping the live on the show’s 35th season premiere. But Jenny Slate’s oops moment was already eclipsed by Lorne Michaels’.

Where the hell is Darrell Hammond on the opening credits, hmm? The actor showed up on Thursday to do his famous Bill Clinton impersonation but was mysteriously missing from the Saturday version of the show. Hammond has served fourteen years with the series to become the most tenured cast member in SNL history…and what? Now he’s out of the weekend loop?

Two New Females to Join SNL Cast

Jenny Slate, Nasim Pedrad

UPDATE: Michaela Watkins and Casey Wilson have both been let go from the show.

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, two of SNL’s strongest female cast members, have moved on to other projects. So who will step into their shoes? Many are anticipating the arrival of two new women on the set, but this is a huge disservice to one who’s been quietly waiting for a chance to step into the spotlight.

Jenny Slate and Nasim Pedrad could be two bright spots in the upcoming 35th season of Saturday Night Live, both coming from comedy backgrounds. But SNL already has a funny female to light skits on fire; has been on the show for a few years now, and always manages to score laughs.

Saturday Night Live’s Final Presidential Debate

Now that the debates are over—will there be anything else to look forward to on ? No matter the answer, we’ll at least still have these internet clips to keep us warm.

In this video from Thursday’s special, Chris Parnell - who made a guest appearance last week as Tom Brokaw - steps in as moderator Bob Schieffer.

Watch SNL’s Second Presidential Debate Sketch

If you were too busy watching Grey’s Anatomy or CSI to realize there was a special on yesterday, you missed another great presidential debate sketch.

Although viewers were down a Tina Fey, we were up a guest appearance from Bill Murray and a return from Chris Parnell.

Three SNL Cast Members Get Pink Slips

Horatio SanzEarly SNL firing rumors are now official. E! Online is reporting that a press release for the upcoming 32nd season omitted the names of three cast members’ names: unfortunately, Chris Parnell, Horatio Sanz and Finesse Mitchell will not be returning this season. The news comes as a “non-announcement,” since neither NBC nor Saturday Night Live released any official statement about the cast. Early rumors pegged Parnell and Sanz as fired, but did not predict Mitchell would not be returning. Instead, most were reporting that it would be Kenan Thompson or Darrell Hammond that would get the axe. Sanz had made a statement about a month ago to the Chicago Sun-Times, saying “I haven’t been approached with anything that’s led me to believe I won’t be back.” Seems the decision may have come as a surprise to him. NBC rep Marc Liepis doesn’t believe there is any ill-will about the decision, saying “I believe there were mutual choices made. When you’re on the show for eight years, I don’t think you look at it as a firing.” Both Parnell and Sanz have been on SNL for eight years, while Mitchell had only a three year run.

Saturday Night Live will air on September 30th, with host Dane Cook and musical guest The Killers. No official word yet on who will be taking over Tina Fey’s chair on Weekend Update, although early rumors pegged Jason Sudeikis. Guess we’ll know for sure on the 30th.
