Dancing With The Stars: Week 8 Loser

Cameron MathisonWith only five dancers left last night, the competition was really anyone’s game.  If voting was based solely on competence alone, yesterday’s Bottom Three (Marie, Cameron and Jennie) should have been justifiably nervous tonight.  Unfortunately, it’s already been proven that high-scorers like Helio and Melanie could easily be knocked off Sabrina-style due to lack of viewer support.

Well, tonight’s elimination was note the type to set off major shockwaves.  Although seemed to be making large strides in the past few weeks, his dance card average (24.5 points) was barely higher than that of last night’s lowest scorer, (24.1 avg).

Maybe Mathison - who still has his day(time) job to turn to - should look at this as a mixed blessing.  Now he doesn’t to accrue more frequent fliers believing he ever had a chance against Helio.

Dancing With The Stars: Week 8

Dancing With The Stars

The Final Five competitors were each two dances away from next week’s semi-finals.  Read on to see how they fared tonight:

JENNIE GARTH (partner Derek Hough)
(Dance: Jive/ Song: ‘It Takes Two’)
Something about Jennie’s green-sequined outfit tonight screams mermaid to me.  (Tom Bergeron said her outfit made him crave frozen vegetables.)  I think she looks incredibly awkward with this fast-paced dance.  She seems a bit wobbly and a little sloppy overall.  Len said that the dance wasn’t one of her best; he wasn’t sure the performance was worthy of a berth in the semi-finals.  Bruno said Jennie wasn’t as sharp as she should have been.  Carrie Ann said she lacked good posture and clean pump action.  Score: 8/8/8 (24)

CAMERON MATHISON (partner Edyta Sliwinska)
(Dance: Viennese Waltz/ Song: ‘Harry Potter Theme’)
Cameron and Edyta make a beautiful pair tonight.  I really like his grey tux/tails and her pink gown is gorgeous.  He looks very confident with this dance and his lines look great.  Bruno said it was majestic and sweeping.  Carrie Ann complimented his great lines and holds.  Len praised their beautiful rotations.  Score: 9/9/9 (27)

Dancing With the Stars: Week 7 Loser

DescriptionDespite the palpable tension, felt weirdly anti-climactic tonight.  Seriously—how could anything surpass last week’s results shocker?  Any dancer eliminated from this point forward had to have known their day could come.

Of the Final Six competitors, only three have managed to avoid the Bottom Two (Helio, Jennie and Marie).  The remaining three (Jane, Mel, Cameron) have only faced elimination once.  So who ended up getting the glowing red light tonight?

Hoping to keep us on our toes, the DWTS producers decided to change things up a bit tonight.  Instead of the usual Bottom Two—there was a Final Three: Helio, Jennie and Jane.  Thankfully when the dust finally settled, we were left with a controversy-free elimination.  Having earned the lowest score the past two weeks, had to admit it was her time to go.

Monday Ratings: ‘Heroes’ Declines Again

An extra-long Dancing With The Stars helped retain its dominance over Monday night:

8pm

9pm

10pm

  • (14.1 million, 4.4/11 in 18-49) as the hour’s largest draw.
  • (10.8 million, 3.9/10) was even with last week.
  • (5.2 million, 2.1/6) dropped another 700,000.

Another Death Affects ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Family

DescriptionAnother week, another unfortunate story for the participants of

Early this morning, 90-year-old father, George, passed away.  Just last night, was on talking about a large family reunion scheduled for later this week.  Members of the 125-member clan were being flown into Chicago for a special appearance on .  Friday’s episode is now currently up in the air (as is Marie’s attendance on tonight’s DWTS results show).

This news comes one month after Jane Seymour’s mother died in England.  Marie Osmond often commented that she and Jane had bonded over this tragedy; Marie lost her own mother, Olive, just three years ago.

Of course, bad news has not been limited to the dancers on the show—several DWTS performers have experienced family emergencies as well.  Gloria Estefan cancelled her performance last month after her mother suffered an intestinal rupture.  The following week, Jennifer Lopez was forced to adjust her taping schedule when her grandmother passed away.

Dancing With The Stars: Week 7

DWTS

The Final Six competitors performed two full dances tonight—a ballroom and a Latin number (no group dances this time around).  Read on to see how they fared:

HELIO CASTRONEVES (partner Julianne Hough)
(Dance: Tango/ Song: ‘The Jean Genie’)
Helio looks like he’s wearing a black, crushed-velvet version of something from The Love Boat.  He’s very stiff and awkward tonight, though it’s hard to tell if the jacket or his dancing is to blame.  Len complained about Helio’s lack of ‘heel leads’.  Bruno said the technical aspects of the dance needed more polish.  Carrie Ann really liked the performance; she thought it was a nice twist on the tango.  Score: 9/8/8 (25)

MARIE OSMOND (partner Jonathan Roberts)
(Dance: Quickstep/ Song: ‘Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy’)
Marie looks great—I could really see her as an Andrews Sister.  It’s obvious she’s having a lot of fun with her dance tonight; I think this style suits her well.  Bruno said her performance was a morale booster.  Carrie Ann thought it was wonderful.  Len said entertainment runs through Marie’s veins; he liked that she put a lot of twist into her dance.  Score: 10/9/9 (27)

Sabrina Bryan Confirms ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Romance

Sabrina BryanLet’s just call it the worst-kept secret since pregnancy.

On last week’s elimination show, viewers heard drop the words ‘love’ and ‘baby’ when referring to partner .  The audience also witnessed a suspiciously tight embrace when the did their final dance.  And while anyone could have smelled a romance a mile away, Sabrina and Mark spent the whole week dodging coupledom questions (while holding hands) on the various talk shows.  Thankfully, TV Guide has ferreted out the truth putting the rumors to rest once and for all:  Sabrina and Mark are dating!!!

Now can I go back to being -ignorant again?

Tuesday Ratings:  Fans Nostalgic For ABC’s ‘Great Pumpkin’

I have a feeling after last night’s great numbers, we’ll still be seeing Linus sitting in that pumpkin patch next year.  Although Tuesday lineup had the best demos, the classic Halloween special helped attract the largest audience.

8pm

  • Although it was slightly down from last week, (16.3 million, 3.3/9 in 18-49 demo) had the hour’s largest audience. Great Pumpkin
  • It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (11.4 million, 3.8/11) easily outperformed the usual / numbers.
  • (8.9 million, 3.2/9) took a backseat to Snoopy.
  • (6.3 million, 2.8/7) and (5.8 million, 1.7/5) both declined from last week.
  • (2.3 million, 1.1/3) was down almost a million.

9pm

  • At 18.8 million, (4.3/10 in 18-49 demo) had the hour’s largest audience.
  • (17.2 million, 7.0/17) still outperformed in the demos.
  • (2.8/7) came in third with 8.1 million viewers.
  • CW’s (2.5 million, 1.1/3) was about even with last week.

10pm
