Has the mighty started to fall? Or is NCIS just getting better with age? Despite dominating in both the viewers and the demos last night, American Idol saw one of its tightest battles in a long time. The CBS drama - with its 20.1 million viewers - got as close the reality show as it ever had before.
8pm
- American Idol (24.1 million, 9.0/24 in 18-49) was down 2 million.
- NCIS (4.1/11) brought in 20.1 million.
- The Biggest Loser (9.7 million, 3.8/10) lost 200,000.
- Scrubs (3.3 million, 1.2/3) remained steady.
- Better Off Ted (2.5 million, 10.2) shrunk by 700,000.
- 90210* (960,000, 0.4/1) added on 160,000.

- Castle (ABC, 10pm): “A vacationing family return home to find a supposed squatter dead in their daughter’s bed.” The cause of Goldilocks’ death? Poisoned porridge.
- Damages (FX, 10pm): Season premiere. “A court has appointed Patty to recover assets lost in a Ponzi scheme orchestrated by Louis Tobin (Len Cariou) while Ellen is working for the DA’s office, which will prosecute him.” Ahh - there’s nothing like the smell of a fresh backstab in the morning.

Tuesday Ratings: Human Target Tops All Repeats
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Comedy, Drama, Music, Prime Time, Reality, Talk Shows, ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, The CW, American Idol, Scrubs, Ratings,
There’s a few things that can safely be said when it comes to ratings. One: Anything you place against American Idol - especially if it’s a repeat (and there were a lot of those last night) - will lose. Two: Anything you place after the FOX hit will garner a lot of interest. (Case in point: Human Target.)
8pm
- American Idol (26.1 million 9.9/27 in 18-49) was down 3.8 million from last week.
- NCIS* (2.6/7) checked in 14.1 million.
- The Biggest Loser (9.9 million, 4.1/11) piled on 1.8 million more.
- Scrubs* (2.7 million, 0.8/2) did about the same.
- Better Off Ted* (0.6/2) scraped up 2 milion.
- 90210* (800,000, 0.3/1) was up slightly.

MONDAY (1/18)
- The Secret Life of the American Teenager (ABC Family, 8pm): “Financial issues have Ricky and Adrian at odds.” I hear Playgirl is always an option for baby daddies.
- How I Met Your Mother (CBS, 8pm): “Robin discovers that she’s the subject of a drinking game.” Every time she sits in the right booth take a shot; when she sits in the left booth, take two.
- The Buried Life (MTV, 10pm): Series premiere. “Four young adventurers tackle a list of 100 things they’d like to do before they die, while helping others fulfill their own dreams along the way.” “Bring back videos to MTV” will have to go unchecked.
